I'm looking for an old Hoofs and Horns Magazine. Its was published approx. 10 years ago and on the cover is a lady by the name of Josephine Wadlow-Evans riding her horse Tan-y-eryn April Frost. They are riding down a bank at a Geelong 3DE.
I realise not everyone keeps magazines that old, but if anyone has any info as to how I could go about getting one or who the publishers are of the Mag (they seem to have dropped of the face of the planet), I would be really grateful.

I believe Rural Press are the publishers for Hoofs & Horns..? I have some old magazines at home somewhere, but there actually likely to older than what you're after! Interestingly I've just read in RM WIliams autobiography that he founded the magazine!

I am hoping you may have a copy of H&H Mag featuring a palomino cutting horse on the front cover sometime during the early eighties. The horse was Avalon Cosmos & he was probably ridden by Ian Francis or Amos. I owned the old fellow for the last years of his life. Thanks

Hi! If anyone has any old issues of Hoofs and Horns magazine from 1975 or 1976, not sure if it is the Feb. or March issue, but it would be the one in particular that has an article with Larry Mahan. He would be at the Denver National Western, and he was working on his bull rope. Also in the picture is my husband, who was in the 7th grade at the time. He lost his copy years ago, and I'm trying to find it---if possible! Glad to see I'm not the only one looking for an issure of this old magazine! Thanks, and you can email me at bigmare@brightok.net

I've have some 1945 ones called Rodeo Digest, Rodeo News & Rodeo Budget but they have the same bulls skull symbol & underneath the heading they say a Hoofs and Horns publication. The earliest Hoof and Horns I have is July 1945.
I have quite a few from the 50's & 60's do you know what the articles were about Lorrae?

Thanks Linda
I am looking for photos that were contributed by A H Owens. I have located five photos but the main years are missing.
I have copies of the two photos that appeared in the Sep 1955 issue pages 40 and 42 as well as the three that appeared on page 51 of the Feb 55 issue.
The University of Qld (St Lucia Campus) Fryer Library has some of the books, but is missing the main years from 1955 to 1966 when he was contributing the majority of the photos.
I would like a photocopy of the page that included any of his photos.

Thanks Bob I contacted the publisher's first - as they have changed publisher's many times over the years, no-one has kept an archive - not even the National Library, although they do hold many copies.
The current publisher printed my request for me in the latest edition of "Outback" and I am hoping for favourable results.

Dear Rowdy,I've been searching all over for any Photos of an old horse I owned at one time ,and discovered your interest in old Hoofs& Horns mags.I,m sure there were plenty of shots of the horse in question- "Silver Sails" A Palomino galloway stallion who was shown extensively in both Melbourne and Sydney "Royals"in the late fourties and early fifties by his then owner, Mr Rupert Metherall Of East Gippsland.I purchased the horse for breeding in 1953 and took him north to NSW. In the '55 floods I lost all records and pictures ( and the horse), and have no replacements. Now in retirement I have the time to backtrack and search and would be very grateful for any assistance you may be able to offer , and am quite willing to pay for colour copies of any photos, I would like one good enough to frame and/or get painted by an animal artist friend.Regards Ejay. If you wish to contact direct please email ejaypo@optusnet.com.au

Hi, I am trying to get hold of photos of Oaklands Pony Club riders that were published in the June 1962 issue of Hoofs and Horns. They are of riders crossing a field on their way to St Mary's church and also in front of a church and going to hounds. They were taken by someone called Corinne Druce.
Can you help at all please?
We have our 50th anniversary celebrations coming up and I am desperately trying ot put a history book together.

I have acquired a full set of 'Hoofs and Horns' from 1950-1958. When I am finished with them, I will donate them to the Warwick Rodeo Hall of Fame (Q).
I also have loose books from the 1950-1980 of these magazines.
The Uni of Qld, (St Lucia Campus) Fryer Library, have a good set of the magazines, but not a complete set. Therefore, I will donate some of the loose books to them to help with their collection, and the remainder will also be donated to the Warwick Rodeo Hall of Fame.
I have a few hours yet of sitting at the Uni Library, researching some of the magazines, but I thank everyone for their help with these magazines.
'"When the Young People Rode" The Springsure Rodeo 1950-1969' is based on the 500+ slides taken by A H Owens; write-ups from ‘Hoofs and Horns’ and the Central Qld News as well as the movies taken by RWH Thomas. Due for release on 9 September 2007.

dear Oh dear why did I have to open this thread again. Ok Deb, Ejay, Moreen, Ellie & Perry I have written down your requests, I will have a look for you all. Ejay I doubt there will be any colour pics, they were all B&W in the old mags I have. I think colour started in the mid 70's.
