Race 1 - AAMI Grey Hcp 1100m
Kurt settled behind midfield and wide on the track. Around the turn he was under
pressure and wide but starting to make ground. In the home straight Kurt charged past the
leaders to win by a length from Final Mist and Power from Port.
Race 2 - Auiron Energy Trophy 1400m
Secret Haze settled well back. She started to race ungenerously by the 800m and was
soon taken wide for the turn. Secret Haze moved to fifth by straightening though wide
before challenging for the lead past the 200m. Secret Haze then raced away to win by 3
lengths from Palagia with Glitzy Guru third.
Race 3 - Yalumba Classic Hurdle 3600m
Mystic Outlaw led with Mascagni early from Boxter Blue. By the 1000m on the first lap
Mystic Outlaw led Boxter Blue then Voodoo Sunset wide around Mascagni. Approaching the
home turn on the first lap Boxter Blue took over from Mystic Outlaw with Voodoo Sunset
wide around Joe Bananas. Over the first in the home straight Boxter Blue led Joe Bananas
as Mystic Outlaw tripped and all but fell his nose roll collecting some turf (see photo)
as Shutayr tailed off last. By the 1400m Boxter Blue led Joe Bananas then Voodoo Sunset
with a break to Mystic Outlaw as Shutayr moved wide to start a run. By the 850m Shutayr
joined Boxter Blue in front from Voodoo Sunset and Sir Ritchie. Around the turn Shutayr
raced clear of Boxter Blue as Wilson Road started to make ground. On straightening Shutayr
was going strongly with Wilson Road the only danger as Mystic Outlaw and Joe Bananas were
pulled out of the race. After the last Shutayr started to race away on the flat to go to
the line full of running with a gap to Wilson Road second with Sir Ritchie third.
Race 4 - Country Cup 1900m
You're Joking settled just off the lead. By the turn You're Joking was looking for a
run throught the frontrunners but was momentarily blocked. On straightening You're Joking
had moved up to fourth before finding a gap between the leaders. Over the final 100m
You're Joking purt in a sustained effort to win by a neck from Jeune's Mark and Griswald.
