Monarchos has been injured and will be immediately retired to stud.
In a statement jointly released by owner John Oxley and trainer John
Ward it was confirmed an injury had meant the entire had raced for the last time.
"Monarchos, winner of the 2001 Kentucky Derby and the
2001 Florida Derby (G1) has been retired due to an injury of the left front medial branch
of the superficial digital flexor tendon."
