| While the connections of the Cliff Brown trained The A Train
continue their celebrations after winning last months Adelaide Cup at Morphettville,
Bill Wilde the trainer of Badgers Wood unveiled plans to aim his very much in form
gelding at the event next year. Warrnambool based
Wilde feels Badgers Wood would be suited at a race like his hometown Cup and the
South Australian feature next autumn. But before then he will continue to race on during
the winter months in Melbourne. "Well look at similar sorts of races with him
around Melbourne first," Wilde said. "After then next autumn Im sure hed be suited at
races like the Warrnambool and Adelaide Cups."
A son of the Victoria Derby winner Blevic, Badgers
Wood made it consecutive Saturday victories after winning last Saturday at Moonee Valley. "Hes a very honest horse and now hes
really come to the fore," Wilde added. Badger's Wood enjoyed a good run just off the pace in
today's race before powering home in great style to grab Lexitaw who made all of the
running after moving to the front with about 1400 metres to run. The win also gave leading local apprentice Reece Wheeler a
race to race double after success in the previous event aboard the Alan Bailey trained
        filly Speaker. PICS - Quentin
