Shinko King is
steadily making a name for himself in New Zealand and with his first crop just
two-year-olds was represented by his second winner King George at New Plymouth. Earlier in the season the Roger James trained Original Sin had the
distinction of being the first winner for Shinko King.
The Allan Sharrock trained King George again lived up to
his promise on Saturday at Trentham where in bottomless ground he ran second to the
unbeaten Sun Hawke.
Shinko King has now had five runners in New Zealand for two
winners. Of his other runners a placing from the Murray Baker trained Shinko Lass, a
promising first start run from the Jim Gibbs trained trial winning His Highness, and
another trial winner Kailin trained by John Parsons showing good speed before pulling up
shin sore at her only start.
"Many of NZ leading trainers have Shinko King progeny
showing good speed and pleasing their connections and we look forward to his early
3YOs appearing in the Guineas races as well as his second crop 2YOs commencing
their racing careers in the spring," Ashwell Farm's Ray Knight said.
"Shinko King is being tipped as the sire with an
exciting future and I encourage breeders to seriously consider including him to their 2002
breeding program," Knight added. |
