Challengers win in the $70,000 Darwin Derby on Saturday, July 27 notched up a second
Derby winner for Jeune and capped off another good week for the third season sire. According to Tony McEvoy the win has earned the rising four-year-old
a place in next weeks Darwin Cup, a race that McEvoy had set for him four months
ago.
"He has grown into a much tougher horse over the last
twelve months and he handled the trip from Adelaide to Darwin very well. The ability to
travel was such a positive trait of Jeunes and I am pleased he is passing it onto
his progeny.
"After an unlucky run in the (Darwin) Guineas it was
great to see him run so well on Saturday. It puts him right into contention for the
Cup," McEvoy said.
Jeune had another two individual winners three days prior
to Young Challengers win with promising 3YO Super Boom (Jeune / Arandoo) and 2YO
Jeune Amour (Jeune / Hazel Time) both winning their first starts.
Here are just a few reasons why Jeune is starting to make
his mark as a top class stallion.
