| The brilliant
son of Volksraad, Vinaka, has been rated the leading New Zealand-based three-year-old in
Australasia for the 2001-2002 season. The 2001-2002
Australian-New Zealand Classifications show Vinaka with a rating of 110 (55kg equivalent).
The Group One Telegraph Handicap (1200m) winner is one of
only two New Zealand-trained gallopers to make the top 10 in the three-year-old category
the other being New Zealand Derby winner Leica Guv who is rated at 108 (54kg).
Vinaka (ex Shepherds Delight) was trained owned and
bred by Jim Gibbs of Matamata.
He was one of eight individual black-type winners for
Volksraad in the 2001-2002 season.
Volksraad is New Zealands leading sire for 2001-2002
the first time he has claimed the prestigious Grosvenor Trophy to be presented at
the Mercedes Racing Awards dinner in Auckland on August 16. |
