29/07/02 Volksraad's Son Rated the Top Three-Year-Old
The brilliant son of Volksraad, Vinaka, has been rated the leading New Zealand-based three-year-old in Australasia for the 2001-2002 season.

The 2001-2002 Australian-New Zealand Classifications show Vinaka with a rating of 110 (55kg equivalent).

The Group One Telegraph Handicap (1200m) winner is one of only two New Zealand-trained gallopers to make the top 10 in the three-year-old category – the other being New Zealand Derby winner Leica Guv who is rated at 108 (54kg).

Vinaka (ex Shepherd’s Delight) was trained owned and bred by Jim Gibbs of Matamata.

He was one of eight individual black-type winners for Volksraad in the 2001-2002 season.

Volksraad is New Zealand’s leading sire for 2001-2002 – the first time he has claimed the prestigious Grosvenor Trophy to be presented at the Mercedes Racing Awards dinner in Auckland on August 16.
