Macedon Lodge
based trainer John Symons was full of praise for promising filly Macedon Lady after she
unwound a barnstorming finish from near last to score at Sandown last Wednesday. Like
star stable mate Bel Esprit, Symons purchased the filly at the 2001 Classic Yearling Sale
in Sydney.
"She was my pick over Bel Esprit and I bought her for $22,000," Symons said.
"She's very smart and I think she'll be a spring filly, she has a very bright
future."
Macedon Lady is by former outstanding racehorse Filante, from the winning Cossack
Warrior mare Boo Ticket, a half-sister to prolific West Australian stakes-winning
sprinter-miler Cranky Tikit.
Further back in the family and it's all New Zealand blood, featuring sires like
Balmerino, Taipan (USA) and Alcimedes, so there's plenty of depth to suggest Macedon Lady
will handle a journey.
"I'll ease her up now and be nominating her for the Thousand Guineas at Caulfield
in October and the Crown Oaks at Flemington in early November," Symons added.
