Grafton trainer Bob Gosling scored a memorable win in the Coff's Harbour Gold Cup last
Thursday with consistent gelding Darcy D'or. The 82 year old trainer was quick to compare
Darcy D'or to his previous Coff's Harbour Cup winner Ward's Mistake, a winner of 14 races
including a Grafton Cup."Ward's Mistake was a great horse for me but Darcy D'Or
certainly has more potential," said Gosling of the five year old who now boasts the
impressive record of 10 wins, eight placings and $150,730 from just 21 starts.
Gosling prepared Darcy D'or's older half brother Kala Beat to win a Port Macquarie Cup
and was quick to take advantage when made aware of the horse's weanling half-brother in
the 1998 June Weanling Sale in Victoria.
"An agent rang me and asked if we were interested in buying Kala Beat's
half-brother and we didn't hesitate," Gosling said.
The youngster was secured for just $5,000 proving to be a very wise investment for his
syndicate of Grafton owners.
