| Bonuses
totaling $30,000 were handed out at Royal Randwick yesterday afternoon when BOBS produced
its first winners. The NSW racing incentive scheme
known as BOBS (Breeder Owner Bonus Scheme) had three winners at headquarters, with each
galloper picking up a cool $10,000 bonus on top of the normal prizemoney.
Delighted owner Mr Peter Loaring was overjoyed with his
debutante Mystical Lad (by Canny Lad) who was the first bonus winner, earning Mr Loaring
and his wife Karen, a BOBS $10,000 bonus which is added to the $13,000 winners
cheque.
"The $10,000 bonus certainly makes the $660 nomination
fee look pretty cheap," he declared.
Trainer Tony Wildman was also jubilant, saying:
"Hes an immature type of youngster but is all racehorse and its lovely to pick
up an extra $10,000 from BOBS."
Woodlands Stud was the second recipient of a BOBS $10,000
bonus when Cataclysm (by Marauding) scored at her first start in the very next race.
And two races later, impressive filly Durrah (by Langfuhr)
added a BOBS $10,000 bonus to her prizemoney haul for owner His Excellency Nasser Lootah.
BOBS is open to NSW-trained three-year-olds whose sire is
among the 43 stallions nominated for the scheme. Racehorse nominations for BOBS close on
Monday, 30 September 2002. |
