Leading locally based trainer Gerald Ryan
has been named as the likely trainer of the record breaking Danehill yearling which was
purchased by New Zealand based bloodstock expert Rob McAnulty on the Gold Coast today.
Ryan will have the job of preparing the colt, a
full brother to the Golden Slipper winner and promising young stallion prospect Catbird.
McAnulty said after the sale we would remain
with an interest in the horse which is expected to be part owned by prominent Hong Kong
        based businessman Peter Yip.
The Danehill colt brought the Gold Coast to a
halt this afternoon when he entered the ring at about 4.30pm local time. Interested
onlookers were not disappointed when a number of people including Bart Cummings,
Coolmore's buyer Demi O'Byrne and McAnulty traded bids.
McAnulty is hoping that Ryan will be able to
prepare the youngster for the Magic Millions 2YO Classic to be run just over the road from
the sales complex at the Gold Coast track in a year's time. |
