Approaching the home turn Ruxette was held up for a run for a short distance. Rounding the home turn Ruxette shifted out and hampered My Colonial Lady.

Race 3 - Super Vobis 3 YO Maiden Plate 1100 Metres

Plane Thought was slow to begin.

Shortly after the start Allo Harry shifted in abruptly and hampered Sudden Warning and Grand Ballerina.

Passing the 800 metres Abrasions had to be eased off the heels of Buttout.

Near the 100 metres Mikaela Jane and Allo Harry bumped due to Allo Harry shifting out away from Fraarjean.

Race 4 - Tooheys New Class 3 Handicap 1600 Metres

An objection was lodged by M Munday rider of Honourable Ami second place getter against Fergus My Boy being declared the winner on the grounds of alleged interference between the 400 metres and 200 metres. After taking evidence from the parties concerned and viewing the stewards patrol video the stewards dismissed the objection. It was established that shortly after straightening Honourable Ami had to be checked when tightened for room between Magic Chance which initially shifted out slightly and Fergus My Boy which shifted in.

Coy Boy was slow to begin.

Race 5 - David Reid Nissan Class 3 Handicap 2000 Metres

Acting on a confirmed telephone call from Mr J Searle trainer of Headache who reported that the gelding had swelling in the near fore leg and was unfit to run. Stewards ordered the withdrawal of Headache at 9.20am. Mr Searle did produce a veterinary certificate in respect of Headache.

Race 6 - Ararat Advertiser Class 1 Handicap 1310 Metres

In the early part of the straight Carnival Capers was held up wen unable to obtain a clear run. Approaching the 200 metres Carnival Capers and Bruegheldancer came together when tightened for room between Esperado and Redding's Hope which shifted in.

Race 7 - Ararat RSL Class 2 Handicap 1100 Metres

On the way to the barriers T Barras rider of Karnak was dislodged, the gelding, which had galloped for a short distance, was examined by the clubs veterinary surgeon and passed fit to run.

D Yendall rider of Straight By 5^th place getter was severely reprimanded for failing to weigh in.

Race 8 - Baileys On Barkly Maiden Plate 1310 Metres

In the straight Pete's Hero had a tendency to lay in under pressure.
