RACE 1: OPEN HANDICAP 1200 METRES 6 STARTERS

BELLILE (D Foster (A)) and BINOCULARS (S Burrows) were slow to begin. At about the 600 metre mark BELLILE (D Foster (A)) fell. Subsequent to the race Stewards opened an Inquiry into the incident. After taking some evidence Stewards adjourned the Inquiry to a date and time to be advised to enable Apprentice D FOSTER to be in attendance. Apprentice D FOSTER was conveyed to the Alice Springs Hospital.

RACE 2: CLASS 6 HANDICAP 1400 METRES 6 STARTERS

The starting time was delayed 7 minutes.

M CORNELL replaced Apprentice D FOSTER as the rider of DAVE’S CHANCE.

RANCHO EDITION (D Dillon) had its head turned sideways as start effected resulting in the mare loosing some ground at the start.

RACE 3: MAIDEN HANDICAP 1000 METRES 7 STARTERS

S BURROWS replaced D FOSTER (A) as the rider of HE’S TOUGH ENOUGH.

G CHAMBERS replaced D TURNER (A) as the rider of RIGHT ACE (NZ) when D TURNER was overweight.

EDVOKIA (G Lefoe) was standing flat-footed as start effected resulting in the filly loosing about 4 lengths at the start. DECREEDANCE (D Dillon) shifted out suddenly at about the 100 metre mark slightly hampering EDVOKIA (G Lefoe).

1^ST HE’S TOUGH ENOUGH 2^ND FLICKERING KEN 3^RD RIGHT ACE (NZ)

RACE 4: CLASS 3 HANDICAP 1100 METRES 7 STARTERS

STIRLING LAKE (G Lefoe) jumped outwards and STAR DAMSEL (G Chambers) jumped inwards resulting in those horses coming together as start effected. STAR DAMSEL (G Chambers) was held up for a run at about the 150 metre mark.

Subsequent to the race Stewards opened an Inquiry into the run of the gelding STIRLING LAKE (G Lefoe). After taking evidence from the trainer of STIRLING LAKE, Ms L WHITTLE and the rider of the gelding, jockey G LEFOE and from video evidence and their own observations, Stewards charged jockey G LEFOE under ARR135 (b) for failing to take all reasonable and permissible measures to ensure that his horse is given full opportunity to win or obtain the best possible place in the field. G LEFOE was found guilty of the charge and his Licence to ride in races was suspended up to and including 8.9.01 (4 weeks).

A veterinary examination of STIRLING LAKE subsequent to the race revealed no injuries or abnormalities.
