B HUPPATZ replaced Apprentice D TURNER (a) as the rider of FOREVER JUDE when D TURNER (a) was unable to make the allotted weight. GOLD ACTION (M Cornell) was slow to begin. ITAIPU returned to scale missing its offside fore plate and its offside hind plate.

RACE 2: OPEN HANDICAP 1000 METRES 6 STARTERS

SUMMERSET COUNTY (B Huppatz) jumped inwards as start effected coming in contact with ST. MILLI (B Cornell). MR. CENTREFOLD (D Turner (a)) jumped in the air as start effected, resulting in the gelding losing about 3 lengths.

An Inquiry was opened into an incident at about the 600M mark where PAINTER (T Norton) and ASSIFF (T Gillett) had to be checked. The Inquiry was adjourned until 20/10/01 at 11.30am to allow the Master of Apprentice D TURNER, Mr G SEARLE to be in attendance. PRIDE OF DERRY cast an offside fore plate in running. HIGHER POWER cast the nearside plate in running.

RACE 4: CLASS D HANDICAP 1400 METRES 5 STARTERS

TIEPOLO (NZ) (B Cornell) slipped as start effected. TIEPOLO (NZ) (B Cornell) came in contact with the running rail at about the 250 metre mark. No other runners were involved.

RACE 5: OPEN HANDICAP 1400 METRES 8 STARTERS

SARRAZIN (G Chambers) was observed to be slightly distressed on return to scale. SARRAZIN will be required to undergo a veterinary examination before starting again.
