WAIT AND HOPE (T Gillett) raced wide on the home turn. STAR DAMSEL (G Lefoe) had difficulty in obtaining a run in the straight. G LEFOE rider of STAR DAMSEL stated to Stewards that he may have made an error of judgement in not endeavouring to shift out earlier. Stewards informed jockey G LEFOE that they considered he had ridden an ill-judged race and they expected a jockey of his experience to show much better judgement. Jockey T NORTON, rider of ROCKHOUND dropped his whip at about the 150 metre mark.

KOHATON (G Lefoe) jumped outwards as start effected coming into contact with BINGO BREN (D Oakford). KOHATON then shifted inward hampering DASH IN FRONT (P Johnson). Jockey G LEFOE, rider of KOHATON reported to Stewards that his mount had hung out throughout the race.
