T GILLETT replaced D TURNER (a) as the rider of AWSOME DIAMOND when D
TURNER was indisposed. PAINTER (M Cornell) jumped inward forcing AWESOME DIAMOND (T
Gillett) onto THING (B Huppatz). A protest was lodged by Jockey T THUISH, rider of ANTS
against AWESOME DIAMOND (T Gillett) being placed 1st and PAINTER (M Cornell)
being placed 2nd was dismissed after Stewards took evidence from those involved
and viewing the patrol films of the race. Subsequent to the race Stewards found that
AWESOME DIAMOND (T Gillett) had shifted out slightly in the last 100 metres of the race.
Jockey T HUISH, rider of ANTS was informed by Stewards that his protest was bordering on
being frivolous and action may be taken in future. It was reported to Stewards by Mr G
CARIGE, trainer of BY JOE that the gelding had been injured in the run. A veterinary
examination revealed that the gelding had sustained severe cuts to his offside front legs
and abrasions to his offside hind hock. A swab was also ordered to be taken from BY JOE.

protest against FROZE (M Cornell) being placed 3rd for alleged interference in
the last 100 metres of the race. After taking evidence from those involved and viewing the
race videos Stewards dismissed the protest. Subsequent to the event Stewards found that M
CORNELL, rider of FROZWE had allowed his mount to shift inward at about the 100 metre mark
making no effort to stop riding and straighten his mount, resulting in FERNDALE (NZ)
having to be checked severely. Jockey M CORNELL, rider of FROZE was charged by Stewards
under ARR137(a) with Careless Riding. Jockey M CORNELL pleaded guilty to the charge and
