Race 1 - Southcorp Wines Restricted Trophy Race (2) Handicap 1000m

"Autumn Bird" which won a maiden race at Alexandra on Saturday 9^th March, 2002 was not re-handicapped for this race.

On jumping away "Rosemonde (NZ)" knuckled.

Race 2 - Draffin Walker Maiden Handicap 1200m

The start of the race was re-scheduled to 1.55pm. "Just Bazza" was slow to begin.

After passing the 900m "May Run" had to be checked when tightened for room by "Ricky Doodah" which shifted in slightly away from "Swift Swamp".

J Wenn, rider of "Just Bazza" which performed poorly stated to the stewards that the gelding was slow to begin and was inconvenienced when "May Run" was checked at the 900m, and from that point on the gelding failed to respond to his riding.

Subsequent to the event, the clubs veterinary surgeon reported that "Just Bazza" revealed no abnormalities.

R Laming, rider of "Swift Swamp", 2^nd placegetter was charged with failing to ride the gelding out to the end of the race. R Laming's license to ride in races was suspended from midnight 11^th March, 2002 until midnight 11^th May, 2002.

In arriving at penalty, stewards took into account that in their opinion his actions had affected the result of the race. Stewards also considered R Laming's good race riding record.

Subsequent to the event, the clubs veterinary surgeon reported that "Swift Swamp" revealed no abnormalities.

Race 3 - Carlton Draught Open Trophy Race 1200m

The start of the race was re-scheduled to 2.35pm.

Race 4 - New Age Cleaning Open Trophy Race Handicap 2800m

Rounding the home turn "Western Concerto" was inconvenienced when racing tight on the inside of "Charmandene" which shifted in slightly.

Race 5 - Deloitte, Touche, Tohmatsu Restricted Trophy Race (3) Handicap 1600m
