Race 1 - J. J. HOULAHAN HURDLE - 2900 metres:

The distance of this race was shown as 2800 metres when, in fact, the race was run over 2900 metres.

When "Our Prince Naseem (NZ)" made a faulty jump near the 700 metres, "Close Quarters" and "Dolphin Peak" were severely hampered.

Race 2 - YARRA VALLEY MAIDEN PLATE - 1500 metres:

On jumping away "Overtrump" was hampered, and "Regent (NZ)" had to be checked when tightened for room between "Dantastic", which shifted out, and "South Road", which shifted in.

When "Cee Cee Flyer" broke down near the 800 metres "Overtrump" clipped the heels of that gelding, which shifted out abruptly and hampered "Milne Bay".

"Regent (NZ)" hung out in the straight.

Race 3 - N.M.I.T. CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1) - 1200 metres:

"Green Bottle" and "Blade Runner" jumped away awkwardly, and "Sampaquita" was a little slow to begin.

"Umagirl" jumped away awkwardly, shifted out and inconvenienced "Straussman (NZ)",

Race 4 - N.M.I.T. CLASS 1 HANDICAP (2) - 1200 metres:

"Sirgarf" jumped away awkwardly.

Near the 800 metres "Thief of Time", when being checked off the heels of "Lady Bemyne (NZ)", shifted out and hampered "Sirgarf".

Shortly after straightening M. Alesci, rider of "Spinnerman", dropped his whip.

After passing the 200 metres "Rare Mica" was hampered due to "Beachley" (Michelle Payne) shifting in when not sufficiently clear. Miss Payne was severely reprimanded, and notified to exercise more care in future.

Race 5 - CARLTON DRAUGHT CLASS 4 HANDICAP - 1500 metres:

Approaching the 200 metres "Rukuna Lover (NZ)" had to be checked when tightened for room between "Forest Row", which shifted in slightly, and "Somebody Smiled" (D. Yates), which shifted out under pressure. D. Yates was severely reprimanded, and notified that he must ensure that he stops riding and straightens his mount when in similar circumstances in future.

Race 6 - CARLTON DRAUGHT OPEN HANDICAP - 2000 metres:

Ryan Martin was shown as the rider of "Liston" when, in fact, Ms Sally Wynne had been notified as the rider of that gelding prior to declaration of riders' time.

J. Winks, rider of "Magic Precieux", advised the Stewards that his mount had weakened in the going today, and he believed it was unsuited by rain-affected conditions.

Race 7 - MELBA LODGE CLASS 3 HANDICAP - 2000 metres:

No report.

Race 8 - YARRA GLEN GRAND HOTEL FILLIES AND MARES CLASS 2 HANDICAP - 1500 metres:

V. Hall, rider of "Primary Vision" , advised the Stewards that the filly, which had performed poorly, did not feel comfortable in its action throughout the race. A veterinary examination subsequent to the event revealed that "Primary Vision" was showing signs of being restricted in its action in front. The stable representative of Mr. D. O'Brien, trainer of the filly, was notified that prior to the filly racing again he must produce a satisfactory veterinary certificate in respect of "Primary Vision".

SWAB SAMPLES were taken from "The Rampager", winner of the J. J. Houlahan Hurdle - Race 1; and from "Duke of Wellington", winner of the N.M.I.T. Class 1 Handicap (2) - Race 4.

Random swab samples were taken from "Pearcedale", winner of the N.M.I.T. Class 1 Handicap (1), from "Our Needles (NZ)", winner of the Carlton Draught Open Handicap - Race 6, and from "Just a Look (NZ)", winner of the Melba Lodge Class 3 Handicap - Race 7.
