TRUE POSITION

Race 1 - GEOFFREY BELLMAINE SUPER VOBIS HANDICAP - 1000 metres:

On jumping away "Barrenjoey Sunrise" was hampered when tightened for room between "Speech" and "Cousy", which jumped away awkwardly and shifted in.

After passing the 600 metres "Intimidating" became unbalanced when reluctant to hold its position on the inside of "Speech".

In the early part of the straight "Cousy", when making ground, had to be eased over the heels of "Colaton", which was giving ground.

Near the 100 metres "Cousy" was inconvenienced when tightened slightly by "Monee Lane", which shifted in.

Race 2 - BILL COLLINS SUPER VOBIS HANDICAP - 1400 metres:

Shortly after the start "Barmaid Rules" was tightened for room between "Vickers", which shifted out slightly, and "Royal Fraar", which was laying in.

Near the 1200 metres "Barmaid Rules" had to be checked when tightened for room between "Vickers" and "Royal Fraar", which shifted in away from "Born Priceless". D. Short, rider of "Royal Fraar", was reprimanded and notified that he must make a far greater effort to keep his mount straight when in similar circumstances in future.

Shortly after this incident "Keltricity" threw its head in the air and raced ungenerously for some distance when being restrained.

In the straight "Keltricity", which was giving ground, was inconvenienced when tightened for room between "Taylor Dane" and "Miss La La" due to both horses shifting ground.

P. Mertens, rider of "Primary Vision" which performed below expectations, stated that the filly did not stretch out throughout the race, and he believed that something may have been amiss with it. A veterinary examination of the horse failed to reveal any abnormality.

Race 3 - CRANBOURNE AUTO MARKET DAIHATSU HANDICAP - 1600 metres:

Dominic Mittiga, rider of "Interface Star", was fined the sum of $300 for excessive use of the whip on the gelding. Dominic Mittiga had been spoken to about the use of the whip previously.

Passing the 1300 metres "Media Magnate (NZ)" became unbalanced and got its head up and raced ungenerously for some strides when "Summer Envoy", which had shifted over from an outside barrier, raced close on its outside.

Race 4 - GEOFF MURPHY SUPER VOBIS HANDICAP - 1000 metres:

"Tosamba" was slow to begin.

On jumping away "Rapidash" knuckled, made contact with "Pure Gold", unbalancing G. Eades, its rider.

Near the 700 metres "Multi Bonza" had to be checked when tightened for room between "Abyssinian" and "Ruby's Jester" due to both horses shifting ground.

On the home turn "Ruby's Jester" had to be eased off the heels of "Abyssinian (S. Sharman), which shifted in. S. Sharman was reprimanded and notified to ensure that he is clear of other runners when shifting ground.

S. Sharman, rider of "Abyssinian", was notified that he must ensure that he rides all his mounts out to the end of the race hands and heels.

A veterinary examination of "Abyssinian" subsequent to the race revealed that the gelding had been galloped on, on the near hind legt.

Race 5 - EASTER CUP - 2000 metres:

"Mr. Prudent" was slow to begin, and was then reluctant to stretch out in the early stages of the race.

Shortly after the start "Reckless Tycoon" had to be checked off the heels of "Aquiver", which shifted out, and "Panoramic Lad" shifted out and made contact with "Thong Classic".

On the home turn "Captivator", when obtaining a narrow run between "Zero Drama", which was weakening, and "Maridpour (Ire)", was tightened for room when "Maridpour (Ire)" shifted in slightly away from "Adolescence", which improved on its outside.

In the early part of the straight "Native Jazz (NZ)" was hampered when "McBeal" (P. Mertens) shifted out. P. Mertens was notified to exercise more care when shifting ground in future.

A veterinary examination of "Native Jazz (NZ)", which was forced to race wide throughout and weakened over the concluding stages, failed to reveal any abnormality, and a swab sample was taken from it.

Race 6 - JACK ELLIOTT HANDICAP - 1200 metres:

"On the Straight" was slow to begin.

Near the 500 metres "Gifted Ground" was held up for a short distance when unable to obtain a clear run.

Race 7 - BERT BRYANT HANDICAP - 1400 metres:

On weighing in B. Stanley, rider of "Paradiddle (NZ)" which was unplaced, weighed in half a kilogram under his allotted weight. In accordance with the Rules B. Stanley was allowed half a kilogram in lieu of the bridle, and "Paradiddle (NZ)" was deemed to have carried its correct weight.

The Stewards found Mr. Dean Lawson, trainer of "Paradiddle (NZ)", guilty of a charge of neglect, the neglect being that when saddling "Paradiddle (NZ)" for the Bert Bryant Handicap he did not include the lead bag which B. Stanley had included with his gear when weighing out. Mr. Dean Lawson was fined the sum of $300.

On the home turn "Lord of the Pines" was disappointed for a run on the inside of "Kosta Zoff', which was laying in.

In the straight "Bond", when making ground, was disappointed for a run between "Real Boy" and "Kosta Zoff" passing the 100 metres.

Race 8 - LOBSTER CAVE PLATE - 1100 metres:
