RACE 1 - 2002 AAMI GOLDEN SLIPPER BALL HANDICAP 1200M

Bold Politician and Raid And Rule were slow to begin. Emerging Star, which was inclined to race greenly, shifted out and hampered Gourmet Paradise approaching the 100M.

D Beadman, rider of fifth placegetter Raid And Rule, was found guilty of a charge under AR 137(b) of having failed to ride his mount out to the finish of the race. D Beadman was fined $400. In assessing penalty stewards took into account that this was the first occasion on which D Beadman had offended under this rule.

RACE 2 - TICKETMASTER7 BOOK ONLINE HANDICAP 1550M

Alanis got its head up when being restrained off the heels of Enchanting Rose in the middle stages.

Enchanting Rose and Royal Magenta came together near the 600M as Enchanting Rose endeavoured to shift to the outside of the heels of Flying Fella.

RACE 3 - TRIPLE M SLIPPER SALOON HANDICAP 1,250M

Chicago Nights shifted in at the start taking Harp Of Tara in on to Storm Force. Mr J Lee, trainer of Meccatuna, which raced forward today, was reminded of his obligation to inform the stewards of any proposed change in riding tactics.

RACE 4 - NEW IDEA MARQUEE SUPERFECTA 1100M

Papakirch, which was slow to begin, was hampered shortly after the start when Madison Girl was taken in by Go Better (J Cassidy). J Cassidy was advised to ensure he is clear when shifting ground.

Making the first turn Brisanna had to steady off the heels of Madison Girl.

Also making the first turn Papakirch was briefly crowded inside O'Venus which shifted in.

At the entrance to the straight Go Better was hampered when Brisanna shifted out.

A post race veterinary examination of Aquamonious did not reveal any abnormality.

RACE 5 - 16TH & 23RD MARCH BOOT PARTY HANDICAP 1900M

Summer Alice cast its off fore plate during its preliminary and as it was unable to be re-plated stewards ordered the removal of the near fore plate and Summer Alice raced barefoot in front.

Paris Win was very slow to begin.

Passing the 1400M Mr Ripley got its head up when being checked off the heels of Titled.

Approaching the 800M after being taken out by Summer Alice, which improved to the outside of the heels of Mr Ripley, Freedom Mist shifted back in resulting in Titled, which was positioned then to the inside of the heels of Freedom Mist with Ruready improving quickly to his inside, having to be checked.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of Summer Alice, Mr S Dennett, representing trainer Mrs G Waterhouse, stated that in the view of the stable Summer Alice did not run out the 1900 metre journey and had not handled the heavy going. He indicated that Summer Alice would now be spelled. A post race veterinary examination of Summer Alice did not reveal any abnormality and a swab sample was taken.

RACE 6 - 2002 GOLDEN SLIPPER FESTIVAL HANDICAP 1900M

RACE 7 - MEMBERS RESERVED SEATING HANDICAP 1200M

Marauder, which was slow to begin, was inclined to overrace in the early and middle stages.

L Olsen, the rider of Bystander, was reprimanded for using the whip on a horse out of contention.

RACE 8 - BECOME AN STC MEMBER SUPERFECTA 1100M

Lord Kefalonia slipped behind on jumping away and lost ground as a result.

GENERAL: Licensed bookmaker Mr R Waterhouse was questioned concerning a number of entries in his betting records relative to wagers by credit bettor Mr P McCoy. After evidence was taken from Mr R Waterhouse and members of his staff, Miss S Bellamy, Miss K Waterhouse and Mr T Waterhouse, the inquiry was adjourned to a date to be fixed.
