Weather: Fine
Rail: True

RACE 1 – DOMINION MINING COMPANY MAIDEN PLATE

POWER TO WIN (S. Lovegrove) jumped away awkwardly.

From the 200 metres to the 150 metres WOOD PILE (B. Grimston) commenced to lay in onto ST. GINNY (C. Tyler), which then rolled in onto POWER TO WIN (S. Lovegrove). B. Grimston was advised to keep his mounts under stricter control.

Correct Weight was delayed in being semaphored for this event to allow A. Stead, rider of the second placegetter SUN IVOR, to view the official video tape of the race. After doing so, in conjunction with Stewards, Correct Weight was declared.

RACE 2 – COMPLETE TYRE & BATTERY SERVICE CLASS 4 HANDICAP

MAGIC PROSPECT (J. Marks) knuckled on jumping away.

In the vicinity of the 150 metres TRUBRIDGE (B. Grimston) rolled in onto MAGIC PROSPECT (NZ) (J. Marks). When questioned by Stewards B. Grimston stated that he had momentarily lost control of his mount for a few strides. B. Grimston was reprimanded by the Stewards and advised that in future he is to stop riding and control his mounts and to pay more attention to his riding.

RACE 3 – TONY’S TUNA INTERNATIONAL / SABIS TWO-YEAR-OLD CLASS D HANDICAP

HORACE HORSE (S. Lovegrove) raced greenly for the first 150 metres of the race.

RACE 4 – SA BREWING CO. FLYING HANDICAP

D. Wilson was fined $100 under ARR 120(b) for being unable to make the allotted weight. He was advised that further repetitions of this offence would incur increasing penalties.

A veterinary examination of COOL ROSALIE following the running of the race revealed the mare had sustained a severe laceration to the near side leg either at the gates or during the event.

RACE 5 – CEDUNA FORESHORE HOTEL CUP

JEALTS EXPRESS (S. Lovegrove) and POUNT SHILLING (J. Marks) were slow to begin.

B. Grimston, the rider of FOLLOW THE STARS, was advised by Stewards that he was to show more vigor when riding his mounts out over the concluding stages of the race and he received a severe reprimand for his actions.

RACE 6 – SEVEN CENTRAL / SABIS CLASS D HANDICAP

In the vicinity of the 1000 metres SPIRITUALITY (C. Tyler) commenced to throw his head about and PEARL’S IMAGE (D. Wilson), which was racing on the outside of the mare, accidentally bumped that horse and momentarily caused SPIRITUALITY to become unbalanced.
