Rail: Out 3 Metres from 1450m to Winning Post

RACE 1: CARLTON DRAUGHT HANDICAP – 1260m

On jumping away PRINCESS TAYLAH (J Maund) rolled in and inconvenienced JEFFERSON (J Holder).

Damien Holland, rider of BIOCARD, explained the filly had not settled as well as he would have liked during running, and he had advised connections the filly should be eased in her work. Subsequent to the race a Veterinary inspection of BIOCARD revealed no visible abnormalities.

Subsequent to the race a Veterinary inspection of BEAU LOTTO revealed that gelding exhibited a lower than expected heart rate.

RACE 2: D.P. INK WALTER BROWN STAKES – 1000m

Prior to this event all runners were inspected by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon and ruled fit to start.

The start of this event was delayed owing to TREELINE requiring farrier attention.

On arrival at the start jockey V Duric requested FANZA be inspected by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon. Subsequently the Veterinary Surgeon reported that FANZA was sore in its near fore foot. Acting on that advice Stewards withdrew FANZA at 12.50pm. All monies invested on FANZA, to be refunded. Bets on Win and Place made prior to the withdrawal to be paid on the face value of ticket less 2 cents in the dollar for the Win, less 2 cents in the dollar for the Place. Mr S Adams the trainer of FANZA was advised that a Veterinary Certificate of Fitness to race would be required before the filly accepted for a future event.

LAWSON’S STORM (W Kerford) became awkward after jumping away.

P Gatt the rider of GLENARA reported that filly felt sore in the near fore after the race. Subsequent to the race a Veterinary inspection of GLENARA revealed the filly to be exhibiting signs of muscle soreness in the near side chest.

RACE 3: BLACKWELL FUNERALS HANDICAP – 1812m

TORMENTUS (D Carney) and TASS (B Claridge) were slow to jump.

Near the 1400 metres IRISH INTRIGUE (T Creek) which was inclined to lay in was tightened by VICTORIX (W Kerford) momentarily and obliged to steady off the heels of DONEGAL BOY (C Lindop) on its inside.

IRISH INTRIGUE (T Creek) was inclined to race ungenerously for a short distance after this incident.

RACE 4: HEGGIES VINEYARD SPRINT – 1000m

Approaching the 200 metres IRISH JANTEE (J Potter) rolled in and momentarily crowded ULRICHO (D Nikolic).

Subsequent to the race a Veterinary inspection of JOHN’S BROTHER failed to reveal any visible abnormalities.

RACE 5: LIZ DAVENPORT HANDICAP – 1260m

Near the 1000 metres SEATTLE KEN (J Maund) became awkward and shifted out after being tightened by FRAADI KNIGHT (V Duric), which had been taken in by LIKE JON (M Hoppo). M Hoppo was reminded of his obligations when shifting ground.

Subsequent to the race a Veterinary inspection of SEA THE WAY revealed no visible abnormalities.

RACE 6: BONNETTS SADDLEWORLD ADELAIDE GUINEAS – 1460m

Approaching the 200 metres PRAY IN VAIN (S Cahill) was obliged to steady when tightened by KEGON (NZ) (D Tootell), which shifted in. D Tootell was reminded on his obligations.

RACE 7: BIRTHDAY CUP – 1812m

In the vicinity of the 600 metres COUNTBACK (J Maund) shifted out and brushed MARKET PRICE (S Price) on several occasions.

S Price the rider of MARKET PRICE explained that he had been happy with his mount in running until the vicinity of the 600 metres when the paced quickened and his mount was off the bit for a short distance. He stated that he had expected the mare’s class to assist her but was disappointed in the way it had finished off the race. He added that MARKET PRICE had only battled over the concluding stages. Subsequent to the race a Veterinary inspection of MARKET PRICE revealed that mare to be lame in the fore leg.

Jason Holder, rider of UMRUM explained that the gelding had felt flat in running and he was disappointed with UMRUM over the concluding stages and despite being put under pressure in the vicinity of the 500 metres it had not responded to his riding. He added, that UMRUM raced liked a tired horse. Subsequent to the race a Veterinary inspection of UMRUM revealed no visible abnormalities.

Approaching the 200 metres NASSI DOLL (Damien Holland) was inconvenienced and obliged to steady off the heels of simply magical (T Creek), which shifted out.

RACE 8: SMART CHOICE HANDICAP – 1460m

CASH LOAN was withdrawn by Stewards at 3.18pm acting on Veterinary advice that that gelding was lame in the off fore leg as a result of a neck injury.

AVIATE (Damien Holland) jumped away awkwardly.

Near the 1200 metres AVIATE (Damien Holland) was obliged to steady off the heels of AL BATROUN (G Dorol) which shifted in.

Approaching the 200 metres AVIATE (Damien Holland) was obliged to steady off the heels of ANOHER FARE (T Creek) which shifted out.

In the vicinity of the 200 metres EDEN ROC (J Lyon) rolled in at the same time as PALIENTE (L Meech) rolled out resulting in MR ICEMAN (P Gatt) being tightened and inconvenienced.

Over the concluding stages ROSE OF CAITLIN (B Claridge) was obliged to steady away from the heels of DOUBLE LEGEND (J Potter), which shifted in.

G Dorol, rider of AL BATROUN, explained that leaving the 1000 metres he had settled three wide with cover on the back of MR ICEMAN and that he had been satisfied with the manner in which his mount had travelled. He stated that shortly after MR ICEMAN went forward and sat outside the leader, which left him three wide without cover. He added that AL BATROUN had been inclined to lay out from the 700 metres and had laid out making the turn at the entrance to the straight. In his opinion AL BATROUN had not finished the race off in the same genuine manner he had expected from two previous rides on the gelding. Subsequent to the race a Veterinary inspection of AL BATROUN revealed the gelding had an abnormal heart beat. Mr W Petrie the trainer of AL BATROUN was advised that the result of an ECG was to be forwarded to the official TRSA Veterinarian before accepting for any future event.
