NORTH CONNECTION (J. Maund) was slow to jump.

OH SO DISCREET (T.L Creek) brushed the inside gate on jumping away.

When questioned regarding the apparent disappointing performance by OH SO DISCREET, T. Creek explained that his mount had struggled in the going in the early part of the race and, in contrast to its normal racing style, he had been obliged to niggle at it to race in fourth position. He stated that OH SO DISCREET had travelled well for a short distance approaching the 500 metres but had then lost its footing in the going and as a result he had almost lost the use of his near side iron for a short distance. T. Creek added that OH SO DISCREET failed to respond to his riding from the 500 metres. OH SO DISCREET was examined by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon who reported no visible abnormalities. In attempting a run between LAWFUL POKER (B. Claridge) and AVIATE (J. Bowditch), which was inclined to lay in, BELLTON (M. Mr. L. Macdonald, the trainer of SANCTUS, advised that after experiencing minor difficulties in recent times, the mare had satisfied him this week, however, in view of her performance today his recommendation would be that the owners retire the mare.
