 RACE 1  BONNETTS SADDLERY
        SABIS FILLIES AND MARES MAIDEN PLATE (1st Division): Prior to the start WHY HURRY, which had
        been kicked in the near side stifle behind the gates, was inspected by the Clubs
        Veterinary Surgeon and ruled unfit to start. WHY HURRY was withdrawn by Stewards at 12.12
        p.m. acting on Veterinary advice. Stewards ruled that all monies wagered on
        WHY HURRY be refunded. Bets made prior to the withdrawal were to be paid on the face value
        of the ticket less:Bets for a WIN - 20 cents in the dollar from the face value of the ticket, and;
 Bets for a PLACE - 16 cents in the dollar from the winnings only.
 MILITARY EDITION (J. OConnor) jumped
        away awkwardly. GO EMMA (H. McKechnie) shifted out on
        jumping away and hampered ESPRIT DE FURY (C. Buchiw). In the vicinity of the 600 metres ACT SURE
        (D.Tootell) was obliged to steady away from the heels of ESPRIT DE FURY (C. Buchiw), which
        was inclined to lay in. S. Cahill, rider of BELLA SOVRANA, dropped
        his whip in the vicinity of the 300 metres. S. Cahill was advised that future incidents of
        carelessness may result in a penalty being imposed. RACE 2  LEASINGHAM/STRINGY BRAE
        WINES SABIS FILLIES AND MARES MAIDEN PLATE (2nd Division): NIGHT KISS (B. Claridge) and PROSPECTOR
        GIRL (L. Smith) both jumped away awkwardly. Inside the 400 metres DING DOR (D.
        Carney) was obliged to steady for a short distance, off the heels of LIMA JULIET (B.
        Vale), which was inclined to lay in. J. Holder, rider of LEMOXIE, reported the
        mare was inclined to hang out from the 400 metres until the finish. TIMELY FIRE (Darren Holland) was eased out
        of the event over the concluding stages. Darren Holland reported that he became concerned
        for the welfare of the mare, due to it making a noise. Subsequent to the race TIMELY FIRE was
        inspected by the Clubs Veterinary Surgeon, who reported that the mare was slow in
        recovery and exhibiting excessive heart and respiratory rates, and in his opinion TIMELY
        FIRE may have swallowed its tongue. LIMA JULIET lost its near hind plate during
        the race. RACE 3  CHRISTIES BEACH MOTEL
        COLTS, GELDINGS AND ENTIRES MAIDEN PLATE: The start of this race was delayed owing to
        ROJO DIABLO proving difficult to load. Mr. R. Allen, Trainer of the gelding, was advised
        that a repetition of its behaviour would lead to action being taken against it. HUG A MUG (B. Claridge) jumped away
        awkwardly and shifted out, hampering ROJO DIABLO (J. Holder). B. Claridge, rider of HUG A MUG, was
        advised by Stewards to in future ride his mounts to the finish of the race. RACE 4  JIM BARRY WINES/NEAGLES
        ROCK VINEYARDS CLASS 3 HANDICAP: ELLAWARREN LAD (J. Lorensini) turned his
        head as the gates opened and missed the start several lengths. D. Tootell, rider of LOLA, reported that in
        the vicinity of the 700 metres he had elected to ease his mount away from the lead, as he
        believed the mare would have difficulty in maintaining its position. He added that, in his
        opinion, LOLA had struggled in the soft ground and was unable to display its usual
        brilliance. SAXONY GIRL (D. Azis) was eased out of the
        race in the vicinity of the 200 metres. Subsequent to the race a Veterinary
        inspection of SAXONY GIRL revealed the mare had cross fired and was showing to be lame in
        the near fore and off hind. Subsequent to the race Mr. M. Glenn,
        Trainer of ILLUSTRIOUS RULER, reported the mare was exhibiting signs of blood in a
        nostril. An inspection by the Clubs Veterinary Surgeon confirmed that ILLUSTRIOUS
        RULER had blood in its near side nostril. A routine swab sample was taken from
        STOCKADE BOY, winner of the race. RACE 5  AUSPINE  NEWCREO
        SABIS CLASS 1 HANDICAP: KOHATON (D. Tootell) reared as the gates
        opened, missing the start and was slow into stride thereafter. In the middle stages of the race BILLY RAY
        (J. Maund) and TENOR BILL (B. Vale) raced fiercely. In the vicinity of the 300 metres TOMMY GUN
        (NZ) (B. Claridge), which became hesitant when racing in the field, was tightened by KING
        KEEPERS (D. Carney), which shifted out at the same time as TENOR BILL (B. Vale), which was
        racing on the outside of TOMMY GUN (NZ), rolled in and away from MAYBE MOLLY (J. Potter).
        As a result, TOMMY GUN (NZ) clipped the heels of TENOR BILL, dipped and dislodged B.
        Claridge. In consequence THE MAN OF ARMAGH (J. OConnor) and KOHATON (D. Tootell)
        were inconvenienced. Although not entirely responsible for this incident, D. Carney was
        advised of his obligations when shifting ground. Subsequent to the race B. Claridge was
        examined by the attending Ambulance Personnel and found to be uninjured. RACE 6  CLARE VALLEY WINEMAKERS
        CUP:Shortly after the start ZAHEEM (J. Potter), which was inclined to lay in,
        shifted in and inconvenienced SLIGO CLASSIC (J. Lorensini) and FREAK OUT (Darren Holland). A routine swab sample was taken from
        BALLATA, winner of the race. RACE 7 
        ELDREDGE/TAYLORS/KNAPPSTEIN WINES CLASS 6 HANDICAP: RECKILINO was withdrawn by Stewards at 3.54
        p.m., acting on Veterinary advice the mare was lame in the left fore leg. Stewards ruled that all monies wagered on
        RECKILINO be refunded. Bets made prior to the withdrawal were to be paid on the face value
        of the ticket less:Bets for a WIN - 10 cents in the dollar from the face value of the ticket, and;
 Bets for a PLACE - 10 cents in the dollar from the winnings only.
 RACE 8  KILIKANOON/PENNA LANE
        WINES MAIDEN PLATE: Shortly after the start SADLERS ROAD
        (J. Lorensini) shifted in into DANGER CHARGER (D. Tootell), which was taken in, resulting
        in PROUD RIVER (J. Maund) having to steady off the heels of DANGER CHARGER and lose its
        position. J. Lorensini was advised of his obligations
        when shifting ground in future. |
