        PLATE  B. Nolan, rider of Durability, explained to the Stewards
        that he eased the gelding down shortly after the start as in his opinion, he felt
        Durability had gone amiss. Subsequent to the event, the Club's Veterinary Surgeon reported
        that Durability was showing signs of shin-soreness in its off-fore-leg. Mr. R. Gravett,
        trainer of the gelding, was notified that prior to Durability racing again, he must be in
        receipt of a Veterinary Certificate of Fitness. Acting on a report from the Starter, that
        Mantoya proved difficult to load into its Barrier Stall, Mr. J. Baker who was representing
        Mr. G. Eurell, trainer of the gelding, was notified that an official warning would be
        placed against Mantoya, and prior to starting again, he must be in receipt of a Barrier
        Certificate with respect to the gelding. As a result the start of the race was delayed
        considerably. Near the 900 metres, Furtive Glance had to be eased when tightened for room
        between Spooks Revenge and Dancebird, which shifted in slightly.  Race 2 - MARY & MICHAEL LENEHAN FILLIES &
        MARES MAIDEN PLATE  Prior to Correct Weight, W. Hokai, rider of Always
        Exceptional, fifth place-getter, wished to view the patrol video of the start of the race
        as in his opinion he believed he was denied a fair start. After viewing the patrol video
        of the start and taking evidence from Mr. A. Clarke trainer of the filly and W. Hokai
        Stewards deemed that Always Exceptional had gained a fair start, and correct Weight was
        declared. On jumping away, Yensor shifted out and made contact with Devonvale. During the
        middle -stages of the race, Devonvale hung out. Approaching the home-turn, Let's Go Barbie
        was held up for a short distance when unable to obtain a clear run. In the straight,
        Taffeta Princess had a tendency to hang in.  Race 3 - G. DOWNEY FILLIES & MARES CLASS 3
        HANDICAP -  No report.  Race 4 - NOEL KAVENAGH CLASS 1 HANDICAP  After passing the 600 metres, Cat Weasel, which was
        over-racing, had to be checked off the heels of Que Breaker, when checking, shifted out
        and brushed the hind-quarters of Rare Result, turning that mare inwards. G. Murphy, rider
        of Mixture Rich, explained to the Stewards, that he eased the gelding down after passing
        the 600m, as in his opinion, he believed something may have been a-miss. Subsequent to the
        event the Club's Veterinary Surgeon examined Mixture Rich and could find no abnormalities.
        Stewards notified G.Murphy that without doubting his actions , he should have fully tested
        the gelding prior to easing it down on this occasion.  Race 5 - H.A. RHODES CLASS 6 HANDICAP  Prior to Correct Weight, R. Booth, rider of City of
        Gold, second place-getter, wished to view the Steward's Patrol Video and side-on version
        of the race, with a view to lodging an objection. After viewing the films, R. Booth did
        not proceed with this request and Correct Weight was declared. N. Wilson, rider of Pagola,
        who performed poorly explained to the stewards that Pagola travelled well in the early and
        middle-stages of the race, and after passing the 600metres, failed to respond to his
        riding. Subsequent to the race, the Club's Veterinary Surgeon reported that Pagola was
        showing no abnormalities. Race 6 - T. DANAHER CLASS 1 HANDICAP  Rounding the home-turn and in the early part of the
        straight, In Arms was held up when unable to obtain a clear run.  Race 7 - CARLTON DRAUGHT CLASS 2 HANDICAP
         In the early and middle-stages of the race, Jackawill hung
        out.  Race 8 - EDGAR PROSSER MEMORIAL MAIDEN PLATE  On arrival at the Barrier, Sea Shanty was examined by the
        Club's Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit-to-run. Swamp Boy was slow to begin. Shortly
        after the start World Wide Web had to be eased when tightened for room between Irish
        Storm, which was taken out by Minjahra, which shifted out slightly, and Spector which
        shifted in. Shortly after this, World Wide Web had to be checked when tightened for room
        between Irish Storm, which shifted out slightly and My Boy Keny, (D. Mott) which shifted
        in . D. Mott was severely reprimanded and notifid to exercise far more care when shifting
        ground in future.  SWAB SAMPLES -  Race 1 - A routine swab was taken of
        the winner, Reef Wind. Race 2 - A routine swab was taken of the winner, Fantastic Times.
 Race 5 - A routine swab was taken of the winner, Rotang(NZ).
 Race 8 - A routine swab was taken of the winner, Irish Storm.
 FINES & EXPLANATIONS - Race 2 - Mr. D. Lawson, trainer of Caneel Bay was fined
        the sum of $50.00 for the late notification of C. Payne as the rider of the mare. Race 3 - Mr. C. Stott, trainer of Queen Ruler was
        fined the sum of $50.00 for the late notification of M. Evans as rider of the mare. Race 5- Mr. E. Musgrove trainer of Preludes, was
        fined the sum of $50.00 for the late notification of C, Roberson as the rider of the
        gelding. Race 6 - S. Aitken rider of Supreme Governor, fifth
        place-getter was severely reprimanded for failing to ride his mount out to the end of the
        race. In assessing penalty Stewards took into account that they could not be fully
        satisfied that S. Aitken's actions had affected the result of the race. |
