RACE ONE CLASS 4 HCP – 12OO M

When the gates opened MEASURE OF LUCK jumped away awkwardly resulting in S Brownbill (a), the gelding’s rider, becoming unbalanced. Stewards questioned S Brownbill (a) rider of MEASURE OF LUCK about the gelding’s performance. S Brownbill (a) stated that he was instructed to ride the gelding back in the field and to race wide enough to avoid the sand being thrown up by the leaders. He further stated that when he attempted to improve his position from the 600 metres the gelding began to lose ground and compounded over the concluding stages. Mr L Houldsworth, trainer of MEASURE OF LUCK, was notified that the gelding’s performance today was not satisfactory and that the gelding must be more competitive at future starts or action may be taken against it.

When the gates opened HOKAIDO was slow into stride.

Rounding the turn DAPPER CON raced wide and took TALLYMAN out on the track.

During the event TALGO suffered a laceration to the off fore leg.

RACE FIVE CLASS 6 HCP – 15OO M

When the gates opened RICHLAND was slow into stride. Stewards reprimanded S Brownbill (a), rider of RICHLAND for the manner in which he used the whip on that gelding when it weakened in the straight to finish last. Mr D Leech, trainer of RICHLAND was notified that in their opinion his riding instructions to S Brownbill (a) led to S Brownbill riding RICHLAND in contravention of AR 137A (I) that being using his whip to excess on that gelding. Mr Leech was notified that under AR137A(3) he may be held responsible if by way of instruction he contributes to a breach of AR137A(I)(2)

RACE SEVEN CLASS 2 HCP – 1OOO M

Mr S Brown, trainer of PLUTO was fined $30 for the late notification of P Denton as that gelding’s rider.

At the entrance to the straight PLUTO was hampered by CRACK THE WHIP which shifted out abruptly
