WEATHER: SHOWERY
TRACK: GOOD

RACE ONE CLASS 6 HCP – 11OO M

No Report

1st AUTOUR DU MONDE 2nd RING CYCLE 3rd BENGAL FLASH

RACE TWO OPEN HCP – 13OO M

At the entrance to the straight DALVUI (NZ) shifted out and tightened MAGIC WEASEL. Near the 200 metres MAGIC WEASEL, which had a tendancy to lay in under pressure tightened DALVUI (NZ) which was weakening.

Stewards questioned J Hallam (a), rider of DALVUI (NZ) which performed below expectations. J Hallam (a) stated that the gelding pulled hard in the early stages of the race, which in his opinion did not suit the geldings style of racing. J Hallam (a) also believed that DALVUI (NZ) felt stiff in it’s action which he believed was due to the track being firmer today.

Stewards questioned Mrs E Brown, stable foreman for Mr S Brown, trainer of DALVUI (NZ) in respect to that geldings performance. Mrs Brown stated that she had been concerned about the lack of early pace in the race and believed that was the reason for the geldings poor performance today.

Stewards questioned Mrs J Robinson, trainer of IMPOSING KEN, which last raced interstate and for which the Stewards did not have a clearance for. Acting on an assurance from Mrs Robinson that she knew of no embargos against IMPOSING KEN, Stewards permitted the gelding to start. Mrs Robinson was fined $50 for failing to produce a clearance for IMPOSING KEN. (AR59B(b)).

RACE FOUR CLASS D HCP – 12OO M

Mr D Leech, trainer of DAPPER CON was fined $50 for failing to lodge a stable return showing the correct owners for that gelding.

Stewards questioned T Perry, rider of WICKED LOVE, which lost ground in the middle stages of the race before running on over the concluding stages to finish fourth. T Perry stated that WICKED LOVE was racing well until other runners raced around it and the mare was then reluctant to stretch out and lost considerable ground. She further stated that after WICKEDLOVE got into the clear it again stretched out and made ground. Ms Perry also noted that due to the mare racing too keenly at previous starts the mare was racing without blinkers today.

Shortly after the start HOKAIDO shifted in and bumped NEARMISS. NEARMISS then took HOKAIDO out resulting in HOKAIDO clipping the heels of DAPPER CON which had shifted in.
