RACE THREE CLASS 6 HCP – 13OO M

On jumping away KALASHOW and BRAND NEW came together.

1st KALASHOW 2nd RODIN 3rd CATHALOOK

RACE FIVE CLASS D HCP – 13OO M

Stewards granted permission for D Bates, rider of DRAGON STAR to ride the gelding 1 kilogram over it’s declared weight (55.5kg) as there was no suitable rider to replace him. D Bates stated that he had notified the trainer of DRAGON STAR, Ms R Thompson when she engaged him to ride the gelding that he would be overweight.

On jumping away WHY NOT shifted out abruptly and hampered MR CARDIN (NZ). Stewards questioned Ms T Perry, rider of MR CARDIN (NZ) regarding the gelding’s poor performance today. Ms Perry stated that MR CARDIN (NZ) jumped away awkwardly and had a tendency to hang out today and was not competitive at any stage of today’s race. She also stated that on pulling up the gelding felt rough in its action, however she was unable to say that the gelding was lame in any particular leg. The Club’s Veterinary Surgeon inspected MR CARDIN (NZ) subsequent to the event and reported that although the gelding sounded slightly abnormal in the trachea he could not see obvious signs of any abnormality. Mr S Paynter, trainer of MR CARDIN (NZ) stated that although he expected the gelding to run better than it did, in his opinion the gelding was not suited in this race today. He stated that the horse’s previous win was in a much weaker race restricted to 3 year olds whereas today it carried topweight against older horses.

RACE SEVEN OPEN HCP – 11OO M

D Bates, rider of RADICAL MOVER was reprimanded for failing to ride his mount out right to the winning post. It was established that D Bates stopped riding just short of the winning post. Stewards believed that his actions did not have a bearing on the result of the race.

RACE EIGHT 3YO CLASS 1 HCP – 11OO M

Near the 650 metres GRANDWAY TREASURE, which was racing tight on the inside of MY MATE BLUEY, had to be eased when MY MATE BLUEY rolled in slightly. The incident was accentuated by GRANDWAY TREASURE which was racing greenly.

The Club’s Veterinary Surgeon reported that subsequent to the event SHODIYM was mildly lame in the off foreleg.
