Acting on a report from the clubs’ veterinary surgeon that MOSSE had an injury which may effect it’s performance, stewards ordered the withdrawal of MOSSE at 1.53pm. Mr S Paynter, trainer of MOSSE was found guilty of a charge under AR140(a) with having failed to report to the stewards as soon as practicable an injury that MOSSE had suffered that necessitated the late scratching of the filly. Stewards questioned G Clarke, rider of TARCOOLA MAGIC, which performed below expectations. G Clarke stated that the horse travelled well until he asked it for an effort in the straight and from that point it was a beaten horse. He further stated that the horse tends not to finish on strongly in trackwork and although it won it’s previous start, tended to weaken towards the end of the race.

Ms K Petrick, trainer of TOMMY TEE was fined $50 for failing to lodge a transfer of ownership for that gelding as instructed.
