When the gates opened PERFECT PEACE was slow to begin. Near the 400 metres CONTRARIAN was tightened for room by DRAGON STAR, which was taken in by PERFECT PEACE. As a result DRAGON STAR and CONTRARIAN both became unbalanced. G Clarke trainer of LOCHTON LASS was fined $30.00 as the mare was presented without its approved gear (Pacifiers) (AR140A).

RACE TWELVE CLASS 5 HCP – 16OO M

Near the 1500 metres BRAND NEW had to be eased off the heels of COMMAND LINE, which shifted in slightly. M McDuff rider of BRAND NEW was found guilty of careless riding, the careless riding being that from approximately the 1100 metres to the 700metres. He failed to allow sufficient room on his inside and as a consequence LUST NO MORE and GROSVENOR LANE were forced to race unnecessarily tight. This resulted in LUST NO MORE being hampered for some considerable distance and LUST NO MORE and GROSVENOR LANE bumping on several occasions. Michael McDuff was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire at midnight on 13 April 2002 (2 meetings). Stewards questioned J Hallam (a) rider of beaten favourite LUST NO MORE. J Hallam (a) stated that he raced on heels for the entire back straight, which the gelding did not appreciate, however in the straight LUST NO MORE did not run on as it has in recent starts. Near the 500 metres BRAND NEW shifted out as it was weakening and bumped KEW out onto PEERAGE. Stewards were unable to have BRAND NEW, which had performed poorly inspected by the clubs veterinary surgeon as the gelding had left the saddling paddock prior to the veterinary surgeon examining it. Mr D Leech trainer of BRAND NEW was fined $100.00 for removing the gelding from the saddling paddock prior to the required time (AR117(3)).

1st COMMAND LINE 2nd CHALIUM 3rd LUST NO MORE

LUST NO MORE, BRAND NEW and PEERAGE were pre race blood tested today. The winners of race 1,2,3,5 and 6 were swabbed today.

Trainer S Brown was fined $50.00 for having a dog in the stabling area on the morning of 15 March, which was not restrained as per the committee policy.
