RACE ONE CLASS 3 HCP – 15OO M

At the start BURN THE DECK was slow into stride. Down the back straight CHARLIE had a tendancy to overrace. Near the 200 metre point EIRE SUPPLY rolled in and tightened COMMAND LINE. The riders of A ESS EYE (P Denton) and SOLTRICE (J Hallam (a)) were questioned regarding their mounts performances today. Apart from SOLTRICE receiving a considerable amount of sand in it’s face neither rider could offer any explanation. The Club Veterinary Surgeon inspected SOLTRICE and reported that she could find no apparent abnormality.

RACE TWO 3YO CLASS D HCP – 12OO M

After leaving the barriers TAIL GATE bucked for some distance and took no further part in the race. MY MATE BLUEY jumped out on to LARRY BOY as the gates opened.

P Shiers, trainer of TAILGATE was advised the gelding would have to barrier trial to the satisfaction of Stewards before further nominations would be accepted.

RACE THREE OPEN HCP – 13OO M

At the start TORDEAN was slow into stride.

J Hallam (a), rider of TORDEAN dropped his whip at the 250 metre point.

The Club’s Veterinary Surgeon inspected SENDWIN which performed poorly and reported the gelding appeared to be showing signs of anhydrosis. Trainer D Leech advised that the gelding would be given a short spell.

RACE FOUR CLASS 2 HCP – 11OO M

When the gates opened CRACK THE WHIP dwelt in the barriers and missed the start by 1-2 lengths.

An inquiry was held into interference which occurred near the 1000 metre point where TYPE CAST appeared to have been tightened for room. Evidence was taken from T Perry (TYPE CAST), J Hallam (a) (LUST NO MORE) and S Brownbill (a) (PINON). J Hallam (a), rider of LUST NO MORE, was notified that in similar circumstances he would be expected to take more care in regard to the safety of other riders. No further action was taken.

RACE FIVE CLASS D HCP – 1OOO M

When the gates opened MR ILLUMINATOR (L Schmidt) reared and lost a considerable amount of ground. NICE WAYS was slow into stride.

Stewards permitted G Clarke to ride 1½ kg overweight due to the unavailability of a replacement rider.

1st GAINSWAY GIRL 2nd NEARMISS 3rd HOKAIDO

RACE SIX CLASS 5 HCP – 12OO M

Stewards again permitted G Clarke to ride 1½ kg overweight due to the unavailability of a replacement rider.

D Bates, rider of SILENT MAJORITY reported that the gelding never travelled well at any stage and failed to respond to his riding. Subsequent to the event, trainer A White advised that a Veterinary inspection indicated that the horse may have a viral infection.

PEERAGE was scratched by the Stewards at 3.34pm due to the unavailability of riders.

1st JEREMIAH BULLFROG 2nd C’EST LE VIE 3rd ARAGORN

All winners were swabbed today
