Race 1 - 3YO Maiden Plate - 2100m

Queensborough was slow to begin. Approaching the winning post on the first occasion El Suroso was inconvenienced when tightened for room by Sir Claude which shifted in. Prior to correct weight D. Smith rider of El Suroso 2nd placing and B. Rawiller rider of Queensborough 6th placing both requested to view the photo finish for their respective placings. After viewing the photos both riders agreed with the judges placings and correct weight was declared. Also Prior to correct weight being declared, Stewards questioned W. Long Judge, in respect of a discrepancy with 4th and 5th placings when originally the semaphore board displayed 3 Joe Tangles being placed 4th and 2 Bon Ksar being placed 5th. The Judge explained that as the photo finish had skipped several runners in the run on and these numbers did not correspond with his placings. He then re- examined the photo finish and this confirmed his placings of; 1st 4- Lord Triton NZ, 2nd 7- El Suroso, 3rd 6 -Sir Claude, 4th- 9 Zamazing and 5th 1- Baryshkha. The stewards confirmed these numbers to be correct and correct weight was declared.

Race 2 - Maiden Plate - 1400m

Approaching the 600m Windy Bill which was laying out had to be eased over the heels of Petit Point.

Race 3 - Fillies & Mares Maiden Plate - 1200m

Shameless Lady was slow to begin. Approaching the 600m El Illusion shifted in and brushed Sonic Temple. Gavin Eades, the rider of Gemena, explained to the Stewards that after being hampered by Algarve near the 200m, he then had some difficulty obtaining a clear run for a short distance from that point. He added that when the run then appeared he rode his mount along and had to be eased off the heels of Love Mode approaching the winning post.

Race 4 - Class 2 Handicap - 1600m

In the straight Barton Bank layed out under pressure. Subsequent to the event the Club's Veterinary Surgeon reported that Our Dane which was eased down in the straight by its rider Dale Smith was shown to be suffering from a cardio irregularity. Mr J. Cerchi trainer of the mare was notified that prior to Our Dane starting again he must produce a veterinary certificate of fitness for the mare. Which shall include the satisfactory results of an electrocardiograph.

Race 5 - 3YO Class Handicap - 1200m

After being placed in its starting stall Wharparilla reared up and struck its head on the top of the starting stalls. Acting on veterinary advice that Wharparilla was unfit to run the Stewards withdrew the gelding from the event at 2.42pm. Subsequent to the event the Stewards ordered the following in relation to betting: All monies bet for a win and/or place and concession betting on Wharparilla are to be refunded. All successful bets on horses prior to the time of withdrawal of Wharparilla are subject to the following deductions in the dollar from the face value of the ticket: Win bets 8c; Place bets 9c; Winning concession bets 8c; Doubles bets 8c. All monies bet after the Stewards declaration of withdrawal to be paid at face value of ticket. Prior to correct weight being declared B. Rawiller and the connections of Ruben 3rd placing wished to view the photo finish for second. After viewing the photo finish and a developed print of the finish and hearing a submission from Mr. W. Long, Judge, Stewards were satisfied that the Judge's numbers were correct and Correct Weight was declared.

Race 6 - Class 5 Handicap - 1000m

After being placed in its starting stall Call The Cops reared up and then sat down in the starting stalls and became cast. Acting on veterinary advice that Call The Cops was unfit to run, Stewards withdrew the gelding from the event at 3.20pm. Subsequent to the event the Stewards ordered all monies bet for a win and/or place and concession betting on Call The Cops are to be refunded. All successful bets on horses prior to the time of withdrawal of Call The Cops are subject to the following deductions in the dollar from the face value of the ticket: Win bets 8c; Place bets 9c; Winning concession bets 8c; Doubles bets 8c. All monies bet after the Stewards declaration of withdrawal to be paid at face value of ticket. Mr P. Payne trainer of Call The Cops was notified a warning was being placed on the gelding for his behaviour today and should he perform in a similar manner in future it may be suspended from racing for a period. Mr P. Payne was further notified he must be in receipt of a barrier test certificate for the gelding prior to racing again. At the start Station Ruler knuckled and Trusty Tomas began awkwardly and lost ground. Shortly after the start Full Speed Ahead and Deloittes were tightened for room between Bluesman which shifted out and Lightning Tears which shifted in. Rounding the home turn Trusty Tomas had to be eased off the heels of Station Ruler, which shifted out.

Race 7 - Class 3 Handicap - 1400m

Mr T Carter-Smith trainer of Akkadian was notified that he must lodge an amended lease to show DB Cattanach, BT Roache, BA Whittingham, Mrs M McDonald, Miss C Gilchrist, GU Lester and himself as nominators. Rounding the home turn Harvey was held up for a short distance when unable to obtain a clear run. Harvey again had some difficulty obtaining a clear run near the 200m and was then accidentally struck on the head by the whip of J. Graham rider of Traditional Girl. Approaching the winning post Nobody was hampered when tightened for room between Claret Damsel which shifted out under pressure and Akkadian which shifted in.

Race 8 -Class 1 Handicap - 1100m

Near the 800m Born On A Rock was hampered when tightened for room by Lord Carramar which was taken in slightly by Quick Delivery which shifted in to avoid the heels of La Tap which shifted in slightly. Born On A Rock then commenced to over race for a short distance.

Race One - Winner, Lord Triton NZ.
Race Three - Random winner, Bella Puella.
Race Four - Random swab, River Of Kingston, unplaced.
Race Seven - Winner, Akkadian.
Race Eight - Random winner, Catman.

Fines and Explanations

Race Six - Mr G Pearse trainer of Straight Wilder NZ was reprimanded for his late notification of D Yates as the horse's rider.
