Race 1 -3YO Maiden Plate - 1000m

Acting on a confirmed telephone call from Mr. E. Saines, trainer of General's Reward, 3rd emergency, that he had not received notification that the gelding had obtained a run today and had exercised the gelding and was notified after 8.00am that he had gained a start and as in his opinion the gelding would not perform to the best of his ability due to being exercised this morning. Acting on this, the Stewards withdrew the gelding from the event at 8.31am. On jumping away Mr Christopher shifted out and tightened Swift Mookta out onto Bronte and Toldo (NZ) resulting in Toldo (NZ) losing ground. Throughout the event Mr Christopher hung out and around the home turn continued to hang out hampering Swift Mookta forcing that gelding to race wide. Mr G Mackenzie trainer of the gelding was notified that Mr. Christopher is suspended from racing until the gelding trials to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a trial. F. Alesci rider of Toldo (NZ) stated that after being hampered at the start the gelding then got back in the field and in his opinion the gelding never felt comfortable in its action throughout the event. A veterinary examination of Toldo (NZ) revealed no apparent abnormality other than a laceration to the gelding's mouth.

Race 2 -Maiden Plate - 1400m

On jumping away Cautionary shifted out and hampered My Special Star. Stewards permitted J. Mason trainer of My Special Star to lodge an amended stable return to show S. J. Larkin, GJ & VL Trickey as nominators.

Race 3 - Maiden Plate - 2100m

In the straight Brief Conflict hung in under pressure.

Race 4 - Class 3 Marathon Handicap - 2800m

Race 5 - Class 5 Handicap - 1400m

After receiving notification from Jim Mason trainer of Hattlesburg that the gelding had injured itself enroute to the course and was unfit to run, the Stewards withdrew Hattlesburg from the event at 12. 42pm. Mr Mason was advised that he must produce a veterinary certificate in respect of Hattlesburg being unfit to start. Mr Mason stated that after being advised by the float operator that the gelding had injured itself, he instructed that person to return to the horse to the stable to be treated. On jumping away Thinking Cap & Bond were tightened for room between Ashiq and Bambino Ben which began awkwardly and shifted out.

Race 6 - C ass 2 Handicap - 1200m

La Fav stood flat footed when the gates opened and lost ground. Gothic Lord began awkwardly and lost a little ground and On The March jumped away awkwardly. Near the 600m Gothic Lord which had a tendency to lay had to be eased over the heels of Anatolia which shifted in slightly.

Race 7 - Geldings & Entires Class 1 Handicap

Race 8 -Fillies & Mares Class 1 Handicap - 1400m

Rounding the home turn and in the early part of the straight Pyritical had some difficulty in obtaining a clear run.
