Race 1 - MAIDEN PLATE 1850 M

Scottalia (NZ) jumped away awkwardly. Also on jumping away Turismo.shifted out and hampered Trespassers Will. Lord Rehnshaw jumped away awkwardly and then shifted out and hampered Turismo.

Craig Robertson rider of Scottalia stated that he eased the gelding out of the race near the 800 metres as Scottalia was not handling today’s track conditions.

Race 2 - MIDDLE DISTANCE MAIDEN PLATE 1450 M

Pagano was slow to begin. Approaching the 1200M, Desert Bomber had to be eased when tightened for room by Pagano which shifted in slightly. Approaching the 400metres Blue Stack was momentary held up for a run.

Race 3 – LAKE WALLACE HOTEL CLASS 4 HANDICAP 1450 M

Race 4 – SUPER VOBIS THREE YEARS OLD MAIDEN PLATE 1200 M

On arrival at the course Graeme Hicks, trainer of Back On The Red requested a veterinary examination of Back On The Red as the gelding had hurt itself on root to course. A subsequent veterinary examination revealed that Back on the Red had suffered an injury to the inside of its off hind hock. Acting on this advice the Stewards withdrew Back On The Red at 12.32 pm. Rabbuni was slow to begin. Approaching the winning post Tutu which was laying out shifted out and inconvenienced Jet Black.

Race 5 - TOOHEYS NEW HANDICAP 1200M

K. Post rider of Bontarri when questioned regarding his riding tactics on the mare where he lead today when in previous starts Bontarri has raced back in the field, stated to the Stewards he was instructed to lead at all costs as the trainer believed the mare should be ridden that way due to the track conditions. S.Jaensch trainer of Bontarri was notified if there is to be a change of riding tactics on any of her horses in future, she must notify the Stewards.

Race 6 – CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1850 M

After passing the winning post for the first time Lavinti shifted out to avoid Walsaro heels and brushed Basyn Belle. Rounding the home turn in the early part of the straight Young Beauty had difficulty in obtaining a clear run.

Race 7 WEST WIMMERA SHIRE CUP 2000M

Brent Hollinshead trainer of Sir Hunky Dory requested permission to scratch the gelding as in his opinion Sir Hunky Dory would not handle today’s heavy track conditions. Stewards acceded to B.Hollinsheads request and the Stewards withdrew Sir Hunky Dory at 1.00pm

Latin Reighn jumped away awkwardly.

Race 8 - CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1000M

Stewards questioned G. Hoobin regarding him being doubly engaged for Echolade and Kincoy. After taking evidence from A. Carraill, trainer of Echolade and K.Davis, trainer of Kincoy. Stewards ruled that G.Hoobin ride Kincoy. Subsequently it was established that G.Hoobin was unable to fulfil his engagement on Kincoy due to being overweight. G.Hoobin was severally reprimanded for failing to make the weight on Kincoy. In accessing penalty, the Stewards took into account G.Hoobin had never been penalised previously. G. Hoobin was fined the sum of $200 for accepting the two rides in the one race. Fleet Master was slow to begin.
