Race 1 - BLUE LAKE TENTS MAIDEN PLATE 1850 M

When the gates opened GOLD TRIO bounded in the air and lost ground.

M. Pumpa, rider of PAGANO explained to the stewards that the gelding hung out for the duration of the race and for this reason he eased the mare down out of the race near the 600m. Subsequent to the race the clubs Veterinary Surgeon reported that PAGANO sustained an injury to her near hind leg. Mr W. Walters, trainer of PAGANO was notified that prior to the mare racing again he must be in receipt of a veterinary certificate of fitness.

An amendment for a stable return was lodged for STEALTH KNIGHT showing J McLean as the nominator of the gelding.

Race 2 - WEST WIMMERA TOURISM MAIDEN PLATE 1200M

Rounding the home turn INDECORUM hung out. On jumping away AT THE FENCE and MAGUIRES MILLIONS were hampered by PAWEL which shifted out away from MARSTORANA. After passing the 200metres DEE DAA had to be eased off the heels of CONFIDENCE BUILDER, after being taken out by PAWEL which shifted out away from SIR LOIN which shifted out. Shortly after this DEE DAA shifted out and bumped MIKAJA.

Race 3 - BARRETT DISTRIBUTORS CLASS 1 HCP 1200M

After being placed in the barrier HARRY DAN broke through the front gates and cantered for a short distance before being returned to the barrier, examined by the Clubs Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to run. As a result of this the start of the race was delayed. Shortly after the start MOOKATAR was tightened for room between RUN MIKHAIL RUN and HEART RENDING due to both horses shifting ground. Approaching the 800 metres, HEART RENDING when over racing had to be eased to avoid the heels of HARRY DAN which shifted in slightly. In the straight MOOKATAR had a tendency to hang in.

Race 4 BORDER INN SUPER VOBIS 3YO MAIDEN 1000M

On arrival at the barrier TILLISCORE reared up and dislodged its rider. TILLISCORE then galloped for some distance before being captured. TILLISCORE was examined by the Clubs Veterinary Surgeon who deemed the filly not fit to take its place in the field. Acting on this advice the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of TILLISCORE at 2.30pm.

Subsequent to the race stewards ordered all monies wagered on TILLISCORE be refunded and all successful bets on horses prior to time of withdrawal of TILLISCORE are subject to the following deductions in the dollar from the face value of the ticket:
WIN BETS : 16
PLACE BETS : 14
WINNING CONCESSION BETS : 16
DOUBLES BETS : 16
Stewards further ordered all monies bet after the stewards declaration of withdrawal to be paid at face value of ticket.

When the gates opened SIS JUANITO was slow to begin. On jumping away PEACE DANCE was hampered when tightened for room between MARK THE PLACE and WATCHFUL JOAN which shifted out away from HEROIC FRAAR. Approaching the home turn MARK THE PLACE was held up when unable to clear a home run. After passing the 100 metres MARK THE PLACE was inconvenienced when attempting a narrow run on the inside of MY PAJINKA. Acting on a report from the starter, that SARADASH proved difficult to load into it's barrier stalls, stewards notified Mr D Dodson, trainer of SARADASH that an official warning would be placed against SARADASH and prior to the filly racing again he must be in receipt of a Barrier Test Certificate.

Race 5 - YALUMBA THE MENZIES APSLY CUP 1850M

The start of the race was delayed due to ROSES AND WINE being reluctant to proceed to the barrier. Mr M. O'Leary, trainer of ROSES AND WINE was notified that an official warning would be placed against the gelding and should the ROSES AND WINE perform in a similar manner in future further action may be taken. When the gates opened REGAL RICOCHET was slow to begin. Approaching the home turn TRUMAN had to be eased to avoid the heels of MATHESON BOY which shifted in 

Race 6 - PINKERTON, PALM, HAMLYN & STEEN CLASS 2 HCP 1850M

When the gates opened GOLDEN ARCHES was slow to begin.

Race 7 - TOOHEY'S NEW CLASS 6 HANDICAP 1200M

Shortly after the start LANEMA was hampered when tightened for room between HIDDEN ACCOUNT and DANCE WIDDIS which shifted in away from CHICKASA. In the middle stages of the race LOS TORNEROS hung out. K. Post rider of LUCIETON LADY explained to the Stewards he was unable to ride the mare out in his normal manner, over the concluding stages as he had lost the use of his near side iron 

Race 8 -B. M. H. MONFRIES/JOHN DEER CLASS 3 HCP 1450M

After arriving on course OLD DUNCAN was examined by the Clubs Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to run.

When the gates opened OLD DUNCAN was slow to begin.

Approaching the 800 metres IVY'S BAMASH when over racing had to be checked when tightened for room between OLD DUNCAN and NOAH YARN which was taken in slightly by STACK.  

SWAB SAMPLES -

Race 1 -A swab sample was taken from Stealth Knight winner of the race.
Race 3 -A random swab sample was taken from RUN MIKHAIL RUN winner of the race.
Race 4 - A swab sample was taken from NADEMA winner of the race.
Race 5- A swab sample was taken from ROSES AND WINE winner of the race
Race 8 A swab sample was taken from CHECK OUR BEEZ winner of the race.

FINES & EXPLANATIONS

Race 1 : Ms M Hagley, rider of BLUE SUMMIT was severely reprimanded for unnecessary use of whip on the filly.

Race 5. : Bernadette Payne was severely reprimanded for failing to fulfill an engagement to ride TRUMAN due to been overweight .

Race 8 : D O'Heare rider of EL FAYZE was reprimanded for failing to ride his horse out to the end of the race.

Race 5 : An inquiry into P Marks rider of COSIPURA, use of the whip on the gelding was adjourned to a date to be fixed.
