Race 1 - SUPER VOBIS FAMILY FUN DAY HANDICAP - 1200 metres: "Tanami Prince", which was restless in its stall, was slow to begin.

Approaching the 800 metres "Kapitza" had to be checked off the heels of "Nightbird", which steadied.

On return to scale it was noted that "Networks" had lost its off hind plate.

Race 2 - SUPER VOBIS PORTLAND PLAYER HANDICAP - 1800 metres:

Near the 1600 metres "Windows of Time" got its head up when being checked off the heels of "Our Bullbaa".

Near the 1200 metres "Windows of Time" had to be checked off the heels of "Our Bullbaa".

In the early part of the straight "Irish Storm" was held up before obtaining a clear run on the inside of "Windows of Time" near the 300 metres.

A. Findlay, rider of "Allez Gold", stated that due to "Allez Gold" hanging in, in the straight, he had difficulty obtaining a clear run, and was unable to ride the colt out in his normal manner.

Race 3 - SCOMELD HANDICAP - 1000 metres:

"Transparent Lover", which had been restless in its stall, jumped away awkwardly, and was then hampered and became unbalanced when tightened for room between "Broken Love" and "Gala Snip". This resulted in "Transparent Lover" losing further ground.

Near the 100 metres "Napping" obtained a narrow run on the outside of "Queen Ruler". "Napping" was then tightened for room by "Queen Ruler", which shifted out. The tightening was aggravated when "Yaremiss", which was racing on the inside of "Queen Ruler", also shifted out, which resulted in "Queen Ruler" becoming unbalanced when racing tight between "Napping" and "Yaremiss".

Race 4 - LIMERICK LANE THOROUGHBREDS HANDICAP - 1720 metres:

A veterinary examination of "Naareda", which weakened over the concluding stages, failed to reveal any abnormality.

Race 5 - CRAFTSMAN HANDICAP - 1720 metres:

Near the 800 metres "El Edicion" had to be checked off the heels of "Fraar Diavolo", which shifted in slightly when being steadied off the heels of "Daneforce", which also shifted in at this stage. "Brassy Jim", which was over-racing and following "Ed Edicion", had to be checked off the heels of "El Edicion". Due to this "Brassy Jim" shifted out and tightened "Bangerang Brave" on to "Growing" which, in turn, was tightened on to the hindquarters of "Examine the Books (NZ)", which resulted in "Examine the Books (NZ)" being turned inwards, and "Examine the Books (NZ)", "Growing" and "Bangerang Brave" all being hampered. "Hurricane Rose", which was following, was also hampered. As no one rider was fully responsible for the incident, the Stewards took no action.

Near the 300 metres "Eagle Rhythm (NZ)" shifted out to obtain a run on the outside of  "Rice Farmer", and brushed "Examine the Books (NZ)".

D. Short, rider of "El Edicion", stated that the gelding had not travelled well at any stage of the race, and did not feel right in its action. For this reason he eased it down over the concluding stages. A veterinary examination of "El Edicion" revealed that the gelding had sustained a laceration to its near fore heel.

D. Oliver, rider of "Daneforce" which performed below expectations, stated that the horse, which races best in a forward position, was forced to work hard in the early and middle stages , and because of this was a beaten horse on the home turn. After "Daneforce" had failed to respond to his riding, he eased it down over the concluding stages. A veterinary examination revealed that "Daneforce" had a slower than normal recovery rate.

Race 6 - TAUTO SPRINT - 1000 metres:

On arrival at the course, Mr. Tony Noonan, trainer of "Show no Emotion (NZ)", advised the Stewards that after being loaded on the float to travel to the racecourse the gelding sustained an injury to its neck. A veterinary certificate will be produced for "Show no Emotion (NZ)".

Shortly after the start "Kaltegra" had to be checked off the heels of "All Lustre", which shifted out.

Race 7 - ROSS BRADFIELD HANDICAP - 1410 metres:

Prior to correct weight the Stewards looked at the patrol video before deciding that they would not lodge an objection on behalf of the connections of the fourth placegetter, "Al Borak (NZ)" against the third placegetter, "Your Mate'. It was established that in the run to the winning post "Your Mate" shifted in under pressure towards "Al Borak (NZ)".

"Full on Fraar" jumped away awkwardly, and then threw its head in the air.

"Awesome Warrior" shifted out abruptly after jumping away. "Blair" shifted out away from "Awesome Warrior", and lost considerable ground.

"Full on Fraar" over-raced in the early stages of the race, and had to be checked off the heels of other runners running to the 1000 metres.

"Blair" hung out during the race.

"Prince Quay" also had a tendency to over-race approaching and passing the 900 metres.

Race 8 - CROMWELL HANDICAP - 2000 metres:

Kerrin McEvoy stated that "Kailey Lamour (NZ)" did not feel right in its action throughout the race, and he believed that something may be amiss with it. A veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormality.

"Kailey Lamour (NZ)" was held up when unable to obtain a clear run in the early part of the straight.

SWAB SAMPLES were taken from the winners of all races today.

FINES/EXPLANATIONS:

Mr. Stuart Webb, trainer of "Fraar Diavolo" which ran in the Craftsman Handicap - Race 5 - was fined $30 for using wrong colours on the horse.

RESUMED INQUIRY:

The Stewards today concluded the inquiry into the bona fides of the ownership of "Terouge", which won the Club Cozmo Handicap at Moonee Valley on Thursday night, 10th January, 2002.

Further evidence was taken today from Ms Rhonda Mangan, trainer of "Terouge", and from Mr. John Mardirossian and Mr. Spiro Efstathiou.

Ms Rhonda Mangan was found guilty of a charge of failing to disclose by way of stable return details the names of all persons having an interest in "Terouge" when it was entered for the Club Cozmo Handicap, which was run at Moonee Valley on the 10th January, 2002. Ms Mangan was fined the sum of $500.

The transfer of ownership and an amended stable return were received to show Ms Rhonda Mangan, Mr. J. Mardirossian and Mr. S. Efstathiou as nominators of "Terouge".
