RACE 1 – SMOKE-FREE/SABIS TWO-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE – 1200 metres

JOHNYDANZ (J. Maund) jumped away awkwardly and was slow to begin.

On jumping away SHALINI (J. Holder) jumped away awkwardly and bumped BLACK CURRENCY (W. Kerford).

Racing to the 200 metres TAIPAN ANNIE (B. Vale) raced greenly and shifted in abruptly.

RACE 2 – ALCOHOL GO-EASY MAIDEN PLATE – 1050 metres

H. McKechnie was the declared rider for EIRE’S BABE.

The start of this race was delayed several minutes due to PAGAN GOLD requiring the attention of the Farrier in the Mounting Yard, and on arrival at the barrier SPORTING JESTER also requiring the attention of the Farrier.

On jumping PAGAN GOLD (D. Carney) jumped away awkwardly and shifted in, inconveniencing LUNG TAH (T. Barras), which was further inconvenienced due to EIRE’S BABE (H. McKechnie) shifting out at the start.

Racing to the 800 metres CHIEF FRAAR (P. Marks), which had tendency to race greenly, rolled out and as a result EIRE’S BABE (H. McKechnie) was inconvenienced on several occasions.

Racing to the 300 metres NAME IT (J. Potter) had to be eased when reluctant to take a run on the inside of GOD SENT (S. Price), which had a tendency to lay away from CHIEF FRAAR (P. Marks) on its outside.

J. O’Connor, rider of JIVE ANGEL, reported the filly had a tendency to lay out from the 600 metres and continued to hang out until entering the straight.

M. Neilson, rider of SPORTING JESTER, explained that racing to the 200 meters he elected to take a run to the inside of PAGAN GOLD (D. Carney), and racing to the 100 metres he elected to shift to the outside of PAGAN GOLD when that gelding rolled in, in an effort to obtain a clear run to the line.

A Veterinary inspection of SPORTING JESTER, subsequent to the race, revealed the gelding was suffering from respiratory distress. Mr. B. Dunn, Trainer of SPORTING JESTER, was advised was advised that a Veterinary Certificate of Fitness to Race would be required before accepting for a future event.

A Veterinary inspection of ALCHEMY TIME, subsequent to the race, revealed the gelding suffered minor lacerations to both fore legs during the race. First Aid was administered.

RACE 3 – WOLF BLASS WINES DISTANCE MAIDEN PLATE – 1950 metres

Racing from the 600 until about the 400 metres COMO PRINCE (J. Holder) was held up for a run.

Racing to the 200 metres J. Holder shifted in to obtain a run and in doing so inconvenienced I’ZINGARI (W. Kerford), which was weakening. J. Holder was reminded of his obligations in similar circumstances.

G. Dorol, rider of REGION (NZ), explained to the Stewards that racing to the 200 metres he was disappointed for a run behind ZIP THEA (M. Hoppo) and shifted in to obtain a clear run, but approaching the winning post was further disappointed when there was insufficient room between BLAZES (D. Carney) on the outside, and NOIRE JACQUE (P. Gatt) on the inside.

GOLDEN MILINA lost its near side hind plate during the running of the race.

RACE 4 – M. C. FABRICS CLASS 2 HANDICAP – 1400 metres

THE BARON (B. Vale) was slow to begin.

KULCURNA (D. Carney) jumped away awkwardly.

Approaching the 900 metres FLEET DAPPER (C. Lindop) was inconvenienced by GOLDEN SKILL (D. Azis), when that mare shifted in, away from JOBBO’S ISLE (J. Potter).

KULCURNA lost both front plates during the running of the race.

RACE 5 – JOHNSON’S SOIL IMPROVER & MULCH CLASS 1 HANDICAP – 1200 metres

H. McKechnie was the declared rider for SIMMS COVE.

ENGRAVER (C. Lindop), MOOKATAR (M. Hoppo) and DIVINE ECHO (D. Carney) were slow to begin.

B. Vale, rider of LINDROS, reported the gelding had been galloped on its near hind legs during the running of the race.

RACE 6 – KIES FAMILY WINES CLASS 4 HANDICAP – 1600 metres

Racing to the 1400 metres THRU THE TRAFFIC (C. Lindop) rolled in and as a result DECORATIVE (D. Azis) shifted away from that gelding and TERTIAN’S GAMBLE (J. Potter) had to be steadied to avoid the heels of DECORATIVE (D. Azis).

Racing from the 500 metres and until entering the straight BAITENHAUSEN (C. Lever) was disappointed for runs on several occasions.

Racing to the 100 metres PIETA (J. Holder) shifted in abruptly under riding, inconveniencing DAPPERSTAN (W. Kerford). J. Holder was reminded of his obligations when his mounts shift ground.

RACE 7 – CUNNINGHAMS WAREHOUSE SALES CLASS 6 HANDICAP – 1200 metres

JAMATRE (W. Kerford) was slow to begin.

Racing to the 500 metres STOCKADE BOY (D. Azis) became unbalanced for a short distance.

Subsequent to the event a Veterinary inspection of CLEAR OPTION revealed no visible abnormalities.

Subsequent to the event a Veterinary inspection of PURE SPARK revealed no visible abnormalities.

RACE 8 – CARLTON DRAUGHT MAIDEN PLATE – 1400 metres

VANARDO (W. Kerford) was slow to begin.

Racing to the 400 metres SVENSKA KRONA (C. Lever) had to be eased to avoid the heels of DAME DUVESSA (S. Price) when that filly was held up for a run behind PROMISES ‘N’ LIES (B. Grimston).

Racing to the 350 metres POWER TO WIN (S. Cahill) shifted out and inconvenienced TARARI ANGEL (J. O’Connor).
