RACE 1 EQUUS RANGE / SABIS
THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE The start of this race was delayed
several minutes owing to several runners proving difficult to load. KIMASH, which became agitated in the
barrier stalls, was withdrawn at 12.10 pm by Stewards acting on veterinary advice that the
filly had sustained lacerations to both hind legs. Mr. J. Cornell, representing in T.
McEvoy, was advised that KIMASH would be required to barrier trial to the satisfaction of
Stewards prior to accepting for a future race. Stewards ruled that all monies wagered on
KIMASH be refunded. Bets made prior to the withdrawal were to be paid on the face value of

pm when the filly refused to be loaded. Mr. M. Minervini, trainer of MERRIMAK, was advised
that the filly would now be required to barrier trial to the satisfaction of Stewards
before accepting for a future event. Stewards ruled that all monies wagered on

Mrs. Y. Forrest, the trainer of LADY
GARRISON, which proved difficult to load, was advised that a repetition of that
fillys behaviour would lead to action being taken against it. BAKARRI (J. Bowditch) raced greenly in the
early and middle stages of the race and in the vicinity of the 900 metres shifted out
abruptly and raced wide for a distance. Near the 600 metres LADY GARRISON (J.
Maund) shifted out and brushed MISS PUBLICITY (S. Camilleri), which became unbalanced for
a short distance. MISS PUBLICITY lost its off hind plate
during the event. RACE 2 STANLEYS
RESTAURANT MAIDEN PLATE The start of this was delayed owing
to GO SPIDER dislodging its rider W. Kerford and completing a circuit of the course. On
being returned to the start, GO SPIDER was inspected by the Clubs Veterinary Surgeon
and ruled unfit to start. GO SPIDER was withdrawn by Stewards at
12.57 pm. Stewards ruled that all monies wagered on GO SPIDER be refunded. Bets made prior
to the withdrawal were to be paid on the face value of the ticket less:Bets for a WIN - 2 cents in the dollar, and

Correct Weight for this event was delayed
owing to Darren Holland, the rider of the fourth placegetter RIP EM OFF, requesting
to view the Stewards footage in the vicinity of the 1200 metres. After having done
so, Darren Holland lodged an objection against the winner LADY NEENA (S. Price) and the
second placegetter, TWIGGY SUMMIT (T. Creek), on the grounds of alleged interference in
the vicinity of the 1200 metres. After considering the evidence tendered, viewing the
official film and acting on their own observations, Stewards dismissed both objections.
Darren Holland was advised that in the circumstances his objections bordered on being
frivolous. In the vicinity of the 1300 metres SHORE
GENIE (B. Claridge) was obliged to check and lose its position when tightened by WOMAN IN
ME (C. Lindop), which shifted in, and was inclined to get away from TWIGGY SUMMIT (T.
Creek), which also shifted in. T. Creek was advised that he was being given the benefit of
a very grave doubt as to whether or not he was solely responsible for this incident and
advised that in future, he should give riders on his inside the room to which they are
entitled. Near the 1200 metres LADY NEENA (S. Price)
shifted in and away from TWIGGY SUMMIT (T. Creek) making contact with RIP EM OFF
(Darren Holland) resulting in that filly becoming severely unbalanced and shifting in onto
the hindquarters of SON OF GOLD (J. Marks). In the vicinity of the 800 metres FINA DAZE
(NZ) (B. Vale), whilst being eased, got its head up and raced ungenerously. Approaching the 600 metres ZABACCI (NZ) (J.
Maund) was obliged to steady off the heels of WOMAN IN ME (C. Lindop), which rolled in. Shortly afterwards STYLISH DOR (L.
Smith), whilst being eased, shifted out abruptly and brushed ZABACCI (NZ) (J. Maund),
which reacted by shifting away and wider on the course. Near the 100 metres SHORE GENIE (B.
Claridge) shifted out and brushed SOUND BRASS (P. Gatt). SADLER JOH cast its near hind plate during
the race. RACE 3 WATER SEARCH COLTS,
GELDINGS AND ENTIRES CLASS 2 HANDICAP J. Bowditch, the rider of
DHOLIMAS SON, commenced to ease that gelding out of the race in the vicinity of the
900 metres when he became concerned at the geldings action. Subsequent to the race a
veterinary inspection of DHOLIMAS SON revealed that gelding had sustained a
fractured pelvis. RACE 4 POLARCLAD DISTANCE
CLASS 5 HANDICAP In the vicinity of the 1800 metres
ZAHEEM (J. Potter) was forced to check to avoid the heels of TOP KALA (T. Creek), which
shifted in. T. Creek was severely reprimanded and advised in future to give riders on his
inside the room to which they were entitled. Approaching the 600 metres TOP KALA (T.
Creek) was inconvenienced when tightened by ON THE GROG (J. Maund), which had been taken
in by LAWFUL POKER (J. Bowditch). Near the 300 metres TOP KALA (T. Creek) was
held up for a short distance. Subsequent to this event T. Creek requested
to see the Club Doctor. T. Creek was ruled unfit to fulfil his remaining engagements. RACE 5 CRITERION TAVERN CLASS
3 HANDICAP No report. RACE 6 WOLF BLASS BAROSSA CUP KUBLAI KHAN was withdrawn by order
of the Stewards at 10.35 am, acting on veterinary advice that the gelding was lame in the
hindquarters. D. Tootell, the rider of I KEN, reported
that in the middle stages of the race he believed his mounts action had not been
correct and that it was his opinion the gelding may have jarred up on the ground. A routine swab sample was taken from EASY
LANDING, the winner of the race. RACE 7 AUSTRALIAN BUINESS
INSURANCE AGENCIES CLASS 1 HANDICAP As no suitable senior rider was
available to ride TULLO at the required weight, permission was given for M. Hoppo to
replace T. Creek as the rider of this mare. SHOWERS OF GOLD (W. Kerford) jumped away
awkwardly. TENOR BILL (B. Claridge) was slow to jump. Racing inside the 800 metres GOLDEN KOLOLO
        (D. Tootell), whilst being restrained, got its head up and was inclined to race
ungenerously for some distance. In the vicinity of the 600 metres TENOR
BILL (B. Claridge), which had its head up and racing ungenerously, shifted out onto COME
ON ROSES (M. Hagley) resulting in that mare having to be checked off the heels of TULLO
        (M. Hoppo). Near the 300 metres GIACOMO (S. Price) was
obliged to check to avoid the heels of SKY ACT (J. Bowditch), which had been inclined to
lay in, shifted in under riding. Inside the 200 metres SKY ACT (J. Bowditch)
again shifted in and inconvenienced GIACOMO (S. Price). Subsequent to the race a veterinary
inspection of TULLO revealed that mare had sustained a deep laceration behind its off side
knee during the event which required first aid. RACE 8 VILIS / SABIS
FILLIES AND MARES CLASS 2 HANDICAP After being loaded NEW STATUS (W.
Kerford) broke through the barriers, was quickly restrained and returned to the start. NEW
STATUS was inspected by the Clubs Veterinary Surgeon and ruled fit to start and was
reloaded. At the entrance to the straight LUCY
GLITTERS (C. Lindop) shifted out and contacted I LEICA (P. Gatt). GENERAL: Mr. C.S. Grocke, a registered
Stable Hand, was questioned regarding his use of a mobile phone whilst attending a runner
in the saddling enclosure prior to Race 8. Subsequently Mr. Grocke pleaded guilty to a
charge under ARR 160A Part 2 and was fined $100. |
