After being placed in the barrier "Are you Serious" broke through the front gates and cantered a short distance. The filly was examined by the Club's Veterinary Surgeon, and passed fit to run.

Near the 800 metres "Rustic Royal" had to be eased off the heels of "Classic Jewel", which shifted out.

The Stewards questioned Z. Purton, rider of "Eleganz (NZ)", and Mr. D. Garland, who was representing Mr. R. Smerdon, trainer of the gelding, regarding the horse's improved performance today, As the Stewards wished to take evidence from Mr. R.
