Race 1 - BRISEIS FUNCTION CENTRE MAIDEN HURDLE - 3100 metres:

Approaching the 800 metres the first time, Loanshark (NZ) had to be eased when tightened for room by Dolphin Peak, which was taken in by Cicatrix (J Macmillan), which, after initially shifting in, then shifted in further away from Electric Turban. The Stewards notified J Macmillan that he must make a far greater effort to protect his fellow riders in future.

Near the 700 metres, Dolphin Peak, which had been racing tight on the inside of Wilson Road (NZ) (B Scott) for some distance then had to be checked when tightened further by that gelding, which was then taken in further by Cicatrix (J Macmillan). Shortly after this, Dolphin Peak was hampered when tightened for room by Cicatrix, which continued to shift in. After taking into account all the circumstances, the Stewards took no action other than reprimanding B Scott and J Macmillan and notifying them both that they must exercise far more care when in similar circumstances in future.

S Pateman, rider of Crenshaw (NZ), fifth place-getter, was severely reprimanded for having failed to weigh in.

Race 2 - NRMA WORKERS COMPENSATION SV 3YO MAIDEN PLATE - 1435 metres:

Near the 1200 metres, Striking Bob had to be eased when tightened for room between Bikini Love and Bocce, which shifted in slightly. When being eased, Striking Bob shifted in across the heels of Bikini Love and clipped that filly's heels.

Passing the 800 metres, Striking Bob, which was over-racing, had to be checked off the heels of Bikini Love. As a result, Magic Motive, which was following, had to be checked to avoid the heels of Striking Bob. Magic Motive then shifted in and tightened Rightfully Ours, resulting in Rightfully Ours brushing the running rail.

In the middle stages of the race, Red Fire had a tendency to over-race.

Near the 200 metres, Striking Bob was disappointed for a run between Bridie's Love, which shifted in slightly, and Bocce, which shifted out.

After passing the 200 metres, Bocce, which was laying in, had to be eased to avoid the heels of Bridie's Love, which shifted in.

A veterinary examination of Bridie's Love subsequent to the race failed to reveal any abnormality.

Race 3 - R & B SMITH HOLDEN CLASS 1 HANDICAP - 1435 metres:

Acting on a confirmed telephone call from a representative of Mr J B Cummings, trainer of Sir Joro, who stated that the colt had an elevated temperature and was unfit to run, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of Sir Joro at 9.40 am. Mr Cummings will submit a veterinary certificate in respect of the colt.

On jumping away, Blue Gold Bay shifted in and hampered Cockatiel.

Race 4 - THOROUGHBRED BREEDERS VICTORIA CLASS 1 HDP - 1750 metres:

W Davis, rider of Run Moor, fourth place-getter, was fined $200 for failing to ride his mount out to the end of the race. The Stewards were not fully satisfied that his actions had affected the result of the race.

An objection was lodged by W Davis rider of Run Moor, fourth place-getter, against Princess Dehere being declared third place-getter on the grounds of alleged interference rounding the home turn. After taking evidence, from the parties concerned and viewing the Stewards' videos of the race, the Stewards dismissed the objection. It was established that rounding the home turn, Run Moor had to be eased when tightened for room between Princess Dehere and Debonair D'Or, which shifted out when being eased off the heels of Go Get, which shifted in slightly.

Bimbo Limbo and Spar Gulch were slow to begin.

Near the 800 metres, Fairbit, which was racing greenly, shifted in and hampered Spar Gulch.

After passing the 200 metres, She's My Baby shifted in under pressure and brushed the running rail.
