Gosford (NSW) - Sunday 10 March 2002
WEATHER: FINE
TRACK: SLOW

SUPPLEMENTARY: ROSEHILL GARDENS - SATURDAY, 9 MARCH 2002

RACE 7 - AUSTRALIAN TIE COMPANY STAKES 1100M

Trainer M Johnston reported that following Shags' disappointing performance in this race, the colt was this morning displaying an elevated temperature of 39.9oC and consideration will now be given to Shags being spelled.

RACE 1 - TARRAGAL GLEN VILLAGE - MODERN WALL & FLOOR TILES 2 YO MAIDEN HANDICAP 1100M

Helden Park was a late withdrawal at 11.53am acting on veterinary advice that after arriving on course the colt had sustained an injury to its near hind leg.

Why The Long Face was slow to begin.

Hover shifted in abruptly on jumping and hampered Son Of Pegasus and Mikato.

Golden Rory raced greenly and pulled hard in the early and middle stages.

RACE 2 - SITA ENVIRONMENTAL SOLUTIONS CLASS 1 & MAIDEN PLATE 2100M

Kalakan got its head up and overraced in the early and middle stages.

A post race veterinary examination of Celtic Teddy did not reveal any abnormality.

RACE 3 - CENTRAL COAST MAZDA MAIDEN HANDICAP (DIV 1) 1100M

Jockey G Buckley (Do The Twist) was reprimanded for allowing his mount to shift in near the 1000M when insufficiently clear of Florento resulting in that filly being steadied.

Hunter Forest got its head up and raced fiercely in the early and middle stages and shifted in abruptly when being checked off the heels of Costa Azzura near the 800M.

When questioned regarding his riding of The King And I, C O'Brien stated  that he was instructed to allow the filly to settle back in the field and race where comfortable. He said that his mount travelled well until the 500M at which point The King And I commenced to lay in and as a result was reluctant to improve to follow Jilltrice. He said that he was unable then to maintain his position behind that runner and as Hunter Forest commenced to shift out approaching the 400M he felt his best option was to allow The King And I to roll in and pursue runs to the inside. He said for a short distance prior to straightening he was held up and once he obtained clear running in the straight The King And I made good ground in the run to the post.

Post race veterinary examinations of Jilltrice and Manyara did not reveal any abnormality.

RACE 4 - GALLEY KITCHENS MAIDEN HANDICAP (DIV 2) 1100M

Consideration was given to an objection lodged by J Innes, the rider of second placed Nadgee, against Trinity Miss (M De Montfort) being declared the winner alleging interference in the straight. On the evidence it was established that for some distance in the straight Trinity Miss was inclined to shift out under pressure carrying Nadgee wider and that over the final 50 metres Nadgee was inclined to shift out away from Trinity Miss. The stewards were of the view that had the inconvenience to Nadgee not occurred Trinity Miss would have finished ahead of Nadgee and therefore the objection was dismissed.

On jumping Enchanter was hampered when crowded by Zedinette which was taken out by Beau Cheval.

Passing the 500M Tactical Error was steadied for a short distance when slightly crowded for room by Trinity Miss.

Jockey M De Montfort reported that the saddle on Trinity Miss shifted forward near the 500M placing him at a disadvantage for the remainder of the race.

A post race veterinary examination of Tactical Error revealed the gelding to have been galloped on on the near fore cannon.

RACE 5 - GOSFORD QUARRIES CLASS 3 HANDICAP 1100M

J Sheehan, the rider of Gold Again, reported that his saddle had shifted shortly after the start.

A post race veterinary examination of Gold Again did not reveal any abnormality.

RACE 6 - BROADWATER COURT RETIREMENT VILLAGE CL 1 & MAIDEN PLATE 1600M

M Newnham, the rider of Ollipop, reported that his saddle shifted approaching the 900M.

A post race veterinary examination of Speed And Class revealed the gelding to be lame behind. Mr D Meijers, representing trainer G Waterhouse, advised that Speed And Class would now be spelled.

RACE 7 - BOGAS QUICKSTOP TROPHY CLASS 3 HANDICAP 1600M

No report.

RACE 8 - SELECT CREDIT UNION CLASS 6 PLATE 1200M

Sibyl was slow to begin.
