 RACE 1 - W N BULL FUNERAL DIREDCTORS
RESTRICTED MAIDEN HANDICAP 1100M Big Diamond was slow to begin and shortly after became
unbalanced when bumped by Erudite which shifted in. Passing the 1200M Gold Reel was steadied when
crowded by Erudite (P Falvey). P Falvey was advised to exercise more care. A short distance later Magical Walk,
which was inclined to overrace, was steadied off the heels of Erudite after that
runner crossed to the fence. After the race it was noted that Big Diamond had
cast its near fore plate. A post race veterinary examination of Gold Reel found
the gelding to be mildly sore in the off hind leg. Trainer P Perry was advised that a
veterinary certificate of fitness must be produced prior to Gold Reel racing again. RACE 2 - W N BUL FUNERALO DIRECTORS RESTRICTED MAIDEN
HANDICAP 1100M Ollytarna and My Joey were slow to begin. My Joey was briefly held up for clear running
rounding the home turn. H Bowman (Cousin Louise) explained
that his mount travelled fairly in the early stages, however when placed under pressure
shortly after straightening did not respond to his riding and although he was crowded
momentarily passing the 150M when Dervish shifted in, it was disappointing in its
failure to run on. He added that in his opinion Cousin Louise would be better
suited over a longer distance where the horse would be able to settle more comfortably in
a forward position. A Gibbons (Highron) stated that
after being slow to begin he rode his mount along, however shortly after he became
concerned with the Highron's action and consequently took hold of the gelding. He
said Highron travelled satisfactorily whilst being held together, however in the
early and middle stages on a number of occasions when he allowed Highron to stride
it commenced to blunder and he again became concerned with its action. He said as a result
he then eased the gelding down. Trainer Mr E Knight stated that the horse had worked well
leading up to today's event and had shown no signs of any soreness. Two post race
veterinary examinations of Highron did not reveal any abnormality. Mr Knight
undertook to report on the condition of Highron in the days subsequent. Mr Knight
was advised that before Highron is permitted to race again it must barrier trial to
the satisfaction of the stewards. RACE 3 - SOTHERTONS MAIDEN HANDICAP (DIV 2) 1200M Matalino and In Their Honour were slow to begin.
Hula Night, which overraced in the
early stages, was steadied when awkwardly placed close to the heels of Runnin' Play.
For some distance on straightening Tactical Error raced
in restricted room and was accidentally struck across the head on a number of occasions by
the whip of L Cassidy Royal Conspiracy. Approaching the 400M Matalino was steadied from the
heels of Tactical Error. RACE 4 - BROKEN BAY CATHOLIC DEVELOPMENT FUND MAIDEN HCP

reprimanded and advised to ensure there is sufficient room in future to take runs. In this incident Hyper Oak became unbalanced when
bumped on the hindquarters. A short distance later Gaza Guy was steadied when
crowded between Mont Blanc Magic and Noble Touch, both of
which shifted ground slightly. Passing the 400M Dedewin and In The Bag were

not reveal any abnormality. RACE 7 - ALBERT AND MEYER FUNERAL DIRECTORS CL 1 &
MAIDEN PLATE 1600M Thirio was slow to begin and shortly after was hampered

out and hampered Brandavino. Over the concluding stages Thirio (N Cumberland)

unable to obtain clear running when attempting a narrow run to the inside of Tropaion.
         L Beasley (Ireland) stated that
that his mount travelled well until the 600M when Switched On Time crossed in
front. He said from that time on Ireland failed to travel and when placed under
pressure on straightening did not respond to his riding and was disappointing. Trainer J
Pride said Ireland had worked well leading into today's race and was unable to
offer any explanation for the poor performance. A post race veterinary examination of Ireland
found the gelding to be displaying a poor post race recovery. Trainer J Pride
undertook to report on the condition of Ireland in the days subsequent and was
advised that a veterinary certificate of fitness would be required before the gelding is
permitted to race again. RACE 9 - BROKEN BAY THANK YOU CLASS 6 HANDICAP 1200M Acting on a confirmed called from trainer K Stewart Bedlam
