Race 6 - CARLTON DRAUGHT HANDICAP (1100 METRES)

B. Smith rider of ROSES AND WINE (third placegetter) wished to view the Stewards' patrol video with the view to lodging an objection against MAGIC CLAUSE (winner of the race). After viewing the patrol and TV footage B. Smith did not lodge an objection and correct weight was declared. Approaching the winning post ROSES AND WINE was hampered due to MAGIC CLAUSE (B. Park) shifting out. B. Park was notified to exercise more care when shifting ground in future.

Garry Hoobin rider of CONSIDEMUS was found guilty of a charge of careless riding, the careless riding being that near the 1000 metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not sufficiently clear of ROSES AND WINE thereby taking that gelding in across the running of CADDY'S STAR resulting in that mare having to be checked and then continueing to take ROSES AND WINE in across the running of MAGIC CLAUSE resulting in that horse having to be checked and ROSES AND WINE taken in off its course and being hampered. G.Hoobin was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence at midnight tonight and to expire on midnight 13th February, 2002. In arriving at this penalty the Stewards took into account G.
