 RACE 1: ST. MATTHEW'S PRIMARY
SCHOOL MAIDEN HANDICAP 1000M: Acting on veterinary advice that War and Peace was unfit to
start, Stewards permitted the withdrawal of the gelding at 8.14 a.m. Riviera Playboy was slow to begin. Machiko was slow to begin and hampered shortly after when
Mt. Gower shifted in. For some distance in the middle stages Riviera Playboy
raced ungenerously and was steadied from the heels of Monte Drift. For some distance after the 200m, when attempting a run to
the outside of Chatswood Chase (B. Cooper), Riviera Playboy was held up on the heels of
that runner as it continued to shift out. B. Cooper was advised to exercise more care. In
this incident Snow Lodge, which was following, was hampered in consequence. A post-race veterinary examination of Machiko, which tailed
off, did not reveal any abnormality. Trainer Mr M. Johnston was advised that Machiko must
barrier trial to the satisfaction of Stewards before being permitted to start again. RACE 2: HAWKESBURY VALLEY BUS & COACH SERVICE MAIDEN
HANDICAP 1000M: Ardritz was slow to begin. Geldoff was checked on jumping when crowded by Unbridled
Knight which shifted out. Volcanic Scene jumped awkwardly. Approaching the 800m Unbridled Knight was steadied when
crowded by Fleet Harriet (G. Boss) which shifted in when not quite clear. G. Boss was
advised to exercise more care. Royal Dancer hung in in the early part of the straight. A post-race veterinary examination of Royal Dancer did not
reveal any abnormality. Geldoff hung in badly under pressure in the straight and proved
difficult to ride out. A post-race veterinary examination of Volcanic Scene did not reveal any
abnormality. RACE 3: CHISHOLM PRIMARY SCHOOL MAIDEN HANDICAP 1000M: Costagem was slow to begin. Buster Cooma was hampered on jumping when crowded between
Rambling and Sparkling Gulch which shifted in. Approaching the 400m Mammoth was checked and crowded by
Monte Bianco which hung in despite the efforts of its rider C. Brown. Silver Success over-raced in the early stages and hung out
throughout the race and as a result proved difficult to ride out in the straight. RACE 4: JORGENSEN CONFECTIONERY MAIDEN HANDICAP 1400M: After the race it was noted that Zilia had suffered a
bleeding attack and now will incur the mandatory three (3) months bar (AR53A). Bobbin Head jumped awkwardly, shifted out and bumped Sir
Andy. Motorace and Viva O'Layne were hampered on jumping when
Rollon the Viking shifted in. After the 200m Kilkenny Belle and Bendeta were hampered
when crowded by Sir Andy which shifted in whilst weakening. Geearco was inclined to lay under pressure in the straight. RACE 5: CORINTHIAN DOORS MAIDEN HANDICAP 1400M: Gilded Armour was slow to begin. On jumping Blusing Meadow was hampered when crowded by King
Amour which shifted in. Hoogenband over-raced in the early to middle stages. A post-race veterinary examination of Palace Night, which
weakened badly in the straight, found the filly to be displaying mild respiratory
distress. Trainer Mr R. Craig was advised that Palace Night must barrier trial to the
satisfaction of Stewards prior to being permitted to start again. Mr Craig was further
advised to submit the results of an endoscopy examination immediately following the
barrier trial. After the race it was noted that Gilded Armour had lost its
off hind plate. RACE 6: SHADOLA SUN SCREENS CLASS 3 HANDICAP 1800M: Jimmy the Bear and Act Natural jumped awkwardly. Nabob over-raced in the early stages. Rounding the home turn, Alfayn improved around the heels of
Arkadina and in doing so bumped Nadzoff which became unbalanced. Approaching the 200m Vae Victis which improved quickly to
the outside heels of Nabob was taken out when that runner shifted out slightly and in
doing so bumped the forequarters of Jimmy the Bear, resulting in both horses becoming
unbalanced. Stopover was held up rounding the home turn. G. Buckley (Arkadina) explained that although he was caught
three wide throughout the early and middle stages without cover, his mount was
disappointing in its failure to run on in the straight. A post-race veterinary examination
of Arkadina found the mare to have lacerations to both hind legs. Trainer G. Frazer stated
it is now his intention to spell the mare. RACE 7: FUJI XEROX DIGITAL CLASS 1 & MAIDEN PLATE

gelding at 4.50 p.m. Subsequently it was directed that all bets made on The Ginza,
including multiple double bets incorporating that horse, be refunded in full and that all
bets made with bookmakers be paid less the following deductions in the dollar on the face
value of tickets: traditional win 12¢, place 11¢, multiple doubles 12¢. Trainer Mr T.
Martin was advised that The Ginza would be required to trial to the satisfaction of the
Stewards before being permitted to start again. Zaajer began awkwardly. La Boca had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early
part of the straight when awkwardly placed to the heels of Candelaria which was weakening.
D Beadman (Dark Intrigue) explained he was instructed to
ride the filly when comfortable. He said from his wide draw after beginning well he was
caught wide in the early stages and as a result elected to restrain his mount and settle
further back than intended to obtain cover. RACE 9: ST. MONICA'S PRIMARY SCHOOL CLASS 6 PLATE 1400M: Fusser over-raced in the early and middle stages and was
