Hawkesbury (NSW) - Sunday 20 January 2002
Supplementary Report:
Warwick Farm Saturday 19 January 2002

Race 6: William Inglis Classic 1200m

Stewards today interviewed trainer Ms M. Thexton relative to a veterinary report that Planagram was found to be displaying a poor recovery rate and to be dehydrated following the event. Ms Thexton was advised that a veterinary certificate would be required before Planagram is permitted to race again.

Race 3: Rural Fire Service Handicap 1400m

Trainer Mr G. Walter today advised that Paraway had pulled up well since its disappointing run.

LATE RIDING CHANGES:

As L. Cassidy was indisposed due to sustaining an injury at yesterday's Warwick Farm meeting, the following substitutions were approved:
Race 1 C. Munce on Blue Style
Race 3
C. Munce on Cybernetic
Race 4
R. Quinn on Sindbad
Race 6
R. Quinn on Mustard
Race 7
M. de Montfort on Storm Force
Race 9
J. Cassidy on Salty Sal

RACE 1: Chippy's Food Distributors Maiden Handicap 1000m

Punnets Lane hung out rounding the home turn.

Beata had some difficulty obtaining clear running in the straight.

Trumps was inclined to lay in under pressure in the straight.

Near the 100m Finest Jewel shifted out under pressure resulting in its rider, J. Penza, having to straighten.

RACE 2: Crocker Hospitality & Terry G. Pallister Maiden Plate 1600m

P. Falvey was fined $100 for failing to notify the Stewards within a reasonable time that he was unable to fulfil his engagement on Zatso. B. Cooper was substituted.

Jazzi Bullet began awkwardly.

Cherokee Chief raced greenly in the straight.

RACE 3: Lightning Ridge Bowling Club Class 3 Plate 1800m:

Trainers Mr K. Robinson (Gridiron) and Mr J. Deamer, representing trainer Mr C. Porter (Balidor), were reprimanded for failing to present their horses on course by the prescribed time.

Gridiron was inclined to overrace when the pace was particularly slow in the early stages.

Near the 900m Kaapgun and Gridiron made contact when Kaapgun shifted out off the heels of Arkadina.

Over the concluding 100m Arkadina was hampered when obtaining a narrow run between Cybernetic and This 'Ill Do.

RACE 4: John Hughes Trophies Class 1 & Maiden Plate 2000m

Trainer Mr M. Johnston was fined $50 for presenting Frussian in the enclosure without blinkers, part of its approved gear (AR140A).

Near the 1000m Frussian commenced to overrace and had to be checked off the heels of Sindbad.

When questioned regarding his riding of Trafford, M. de Montfort stated that at the entrance to the straight a run presented between Mr. Ripley and Sindbad when that horse shifted out, however, Trafford was unable to improve into the run quickly enough and when the run closed somewhat after Sindbad shifted back in was then reluctant to improve between those horses. M. de Montfort added that Sindbad again shifted out, however, Trafford was inclined to lay out towards the heels of Sindbad and he was reluctant to ride his mount hard into the gap as Sindbad had shifted ground and was not racing truly. He added that over the concluding stages the run closed when both Sindbad and Mr. Ripley shifted ground. M. de Montfort's explanation was accepted, however, he was advised that wherever possible he should take opportunities as they present themselves.

RACE 5: Allied Security Group Maiden Handicap 1300m

Sound Tycoon was slow to begin.

Capzoff jumped awkwardly, shifted out and hampered Our Chum.

Near the 200m Brief Crest was disappointed for a run between Fietinski and Our Chum.

Brief Crest was unable to obtain clear running until the final 100m.

RACE 6: Schweppes Class 3 Plate 1400m

Stasera jumped awkwardly and blundered.

Mustard was held up for a run rounding the home turn.

RACE 7: Rooty Hill RSL Club Hawkesbury Guineas 1200m

As H. Bowman was overweight, G. Buckley was substituted as the rider of Timbuktu. Taking into account the unique circumstances of this case H. Bowman was fined $100 (AR120(b)).

Heritiere was slow to begin.

Gordo jumped out at the start and hampered Bugle Boy.

Rounding the first turn Bugle Boy shifted out taking Faith Hill wider.

A post-race veterinary examination revealed Pompeii to be displaying minor respiratory distress.

When questioned L. Beasley (Faith Hill) stated that shortly after entering the straight he attempted to shift to the outside of Newbold to attempt to run between that horse and Gordo. He added that after being disappointed for the run, he then elected to shift back to the inside to obtain a run to the inside of Heritiere, which had shifted ground out. He added that a short time later Heritiere shifted in resulting in him having to check off the heels of that filly. L. Beasley stated further that after obtaining clear running passing the 200m he was obliged to check his mount off the heels of Pompeii, which compounded badly in advance of his mount.

RACE 8: Mt. Druitt St. Marys Standard Class 6 Plate 1400m

Alanis stood flatfooted at the start and lost considerable ground. As Alanis had offended previously at Royal Randwick on 1 January 2002 when a warning was placed on the mare's barrier manners, trainer Mr J. Pride was advised that Alanis must barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards before it is permitted to race again.

When questioned, M. de Montfort (Phenom) stated that he had difficulty controlling his mount in the early stages as the gelding wanted to charge and then ran out rounding the first turn taking Alanis wider.

A veterinary examination revealed Argentina was distressed following the race.

RACE 9: Rooty Hill RSL Resort Class 1 Handicap 1200m

Near the 1000m Weekendzoff got its head up when being checked off the heels of Salty Sal, and then near the 700m shifted in and bumped the running rail.
