1000m All riders riding in the first race were notified of all
work carried out on the track. As there was a discrepancy between the document of
description and the horse presented to race as "Softly's Token", Stewards were
not fully satisfied with the identity of the filly and ordered the withdrawal of
"Softly's Token" at 1pm. Subsequently the Stewards ordered all monies wagered on
"Softly's Token" to be refunded, and that all successful bets on horses prior to
the withdrawal of "Softly's Token" be subject to the following deductions in the
dollar from the face value of the ticket. Win Bets : Nineteen cents; Place Bets : Sixteen
cents; Winning Concession Bets : Nineteen cents, and Doubles Bets : Nineteen cents. Evidence was tendered from the trainer of "Softly's
Token", Evan Zammit and Jim Kennedy, the clubs veterinary surgeon. Stewards adjourned
an inquiry into the matter. On jumping away, "Yonderlox" shifted out and
bumped "Red Digger". Race 2 - The Opal Laser Handicap 2350m
Approaching the 600m the first time, "Endymion

the inside and "Fraternise" which was taken in by "Nartarlee" (A
Bodey) which shifted in. A. Bodey was reprimanded and notified he must make a far greater
effort when shifting ground in future. When asked for an explanation of the poor performance of
"Connemara Marble", M Tabone, the geldings rider stated that "Connemara
Marble" failed to handle the track conditions today. A post race veterinary
