* C. Robertson was severely reprimanded for accepting a ride for which he was overweight.

Race 1 - Schweppes SV 3YO F Maiden Plate - 1000m -

Acting on a report from the Starter, that Oakwood Miss proved difficult to load into the starting stalls and consequently contributed to the start of the race being delayed, Stewards notified Mr. N. Pfieffer, stable foreman for Mr. J. Symons that a warning would be placed on the filly for her behaviour today and should she perform in a similar in future. She may be suspended from racing for a period and was further notified he must be in receipt of a Barrier Certificate prior to the filly starting again.

Approaching the 200 metres Oakwood Miss was hampered when tightened for room between Nouvella and Rapallo which shifted out after initially being taken out slightly by Leica Princess.

Race 2 - Sound Vault Records Maiden Plate - 1000m -

As the brands and markings on the horse presented as Fiesta Belle, which was having its first start for trainer Paul Banks, did not correspond with the document of description for that horse or the brands and markings supplied by the Registrar of Racehorses. The stewards interviewed Paul Banks, trainer of the horse and owners Ms M. Hewish and Mr. G. Prowse and also Mr. A.Banks, stable foreman for Mr. P. Banks, as to the identity of the horse presented on course. After taking evidence from all parties and as the Stewards were satisfied that the grey mare presented on course as Fiesta Belle was not that horse, the Stewards withdrew Fiesta Belle from the event at 12.35 p.m. An inquiry into the matter was adjourned to a date to be fixed.

Approaching the home turn Pellarama, which commenced to weaken, had to be eased off the heels of Charlie's Angels, which shifted out.

In the straight Vain Appeal laid in under pressure. Also in the straight Opie James hung in under pressure.

Race 3 - Perfect Party Hire Maiden Plate - 1800m -

When asked if he could offer any explanation for King Filou performing below expectations S. Vella, the gelding's rider stated that King Philou in his opinion may be suffering from a respiratory complaint and did not respond to his riding when put under pressure on the home turn. S. Vella also stated that the gelding hung in for the majority of the race.

Race 4 - Bundaberg Rum Class 1 Handicap - 1800m -

French Medallion began awkwardly and lost ground.

Race 5 - Tooheys New Australia Day Class 3 Cup - 2400m -

When asked if he could offer any explanation for Missingham Bridge (NZ) performing below expectations. Craig Robertson, the gelding's rider, stated that Missingham Bridge (NZ) never travelled well at any stage of the event and was a beaten horse when put under pressure near the 800 metres. A Veterinary examination of Missingham Bridge (NZ) revealed the gelding was lame in the off shoulder. Mr. M. Phillips trainer of Missingham Bridge (NBZ) was notified he must submit a Veterinary Certificate of Fitness prior to the gelding racing again.

Race 6 - Powercor Class 2 Handicap - 1000m -

Near the 700 metres Our Shout and Pretty Gaze were both hampered when tightened for room between Rare and Smart which shifted in when racing tight on the inside of Dual Dancer, and Baile Brigin, which shifted out slightly.

Race 7 - Hanging Rock Winery Open Handicap - 1800m -

Acting on a confirmed telephone call from Andrew Payne trainer of Kruger Park that the gelding was showing signs of soreness when he was loading the horse onto the float this morning, and he instructed his sister Bernadette Payne to scratch the gelding from the event and she ommitted to do so, Acting on this the stewards ordered the withdrawal of Kruger Park at 4.15 p.m. Subsequent to the event Stewards ordered all monies bet for a win and/or place and concession betting on Kruger Park to be refunded. All successful bets on horses prior to time of withdrawal of Kruger Park are subject to the following deductions in the dollar from the face value of the ticket - Win Bets - 12 cents, Place Bets - 11 cents, Winning Concession Bets - 12 cents, Doubles Bets - 12 cents. All monies bet after the Stewards declaration of withdrawal to be paid at face value of ticket. Stewards notified Mr. Payne, that it was his responsibility as trainer to scratch his horses from any event and was further notified he may be penalised if he offended in this manner again.

Race 8 - David Becker "Get Out" Class 3 Handicap - 1600m -

Acting on a confirmed telephone call from Mr. Craig Wright trainer of A Scarlet Lady, that the mare had an elevated temperature and in his opinion was suffering from colic and unfit to start, Stewards withdrew the mare from the event at 10.55 a.m. Mr. Wright submitted a Veterinary Certificate in respect of the filly being unfit to start.

Prior to correct weightbeing declared T. Barry rider of Wind Witch 2nd placegetter wished to view the Stewards patrol film with a view to lodging an objection. After viewing the film T. Barry rider of Wind Witch 2nd placegetter lodged an objection against Belle Of Grace being declared the winner on the grounds of alleged interference on the home turn. After hearing evidence from all parties and viewing the Stewards patrol video and side-on video Stewards dismissed the objection. It was established that at the entrance to the straight Belle Of Grace shifted out and inconvenienced Wind Witch.

On jumping away Our Raami Guest began awkwardly and then had to be eased off the heels of Weary, which shifted out slightly.

SWAB SAMPLES -

Swab samples were taken from the following winners - Fading (Race 1), Inala Star (Race 2), Mouse King (Race 3), Baile Brigin (Race 6)

FINES & EXPLANATIONS -

Neil Dyer trainer of Mouse King (Race 3) was fined $50 for the late notification of B. Park as the horse's rider.
