Race 1 - Goodbye Andy Taylor Maiden Plate - 1200 metres

On jumping away Bosendorf knuckled.

Irish Cent was slow to begin.

Approaching the 1000 metres Chelise Marie had to be checked and Vettori Gold and Moktawicz were tightened for room by Bosendorf, which shifted in away from Irish Cent, which was hanging in.

Rounding the turn near the 800 metres Chelise Marie( K. Post) commenced to hang out badly and had to be checked over the heels of Moktawicz and lost considerable ground. In the incident K Posts saddle rolled to the off side, which placed him at a considerable disadvantage until near the 400 metres. Mr Bob Post trainer of Chelise Marie was notified that a warning was being placed on the mare for her excessive hanging out today and should she perform in a similar manner in future. She may be suspended from racing for a period. Approaching the 400 metres Beach Day, which had commenced to weaken was tightened for room between Bosendorf and Vettori Gold (B Park) which shifted out. B Park was notified to exercise more care when shifting ground in future. After passing the 400 metres Bosendorf and Vettori Gold were hampered when tightened for room between Irish Cent which shifted out slightly and Rodrigo which shifted in slightly. Bill Nolen rider of Beach Day explained to the stewards that the gelding hung in for the majority of the race.

Race 2 - Members Trip to Moonee Valley Maiden Plate - 1800 metres

Rounding the home turn Touch Crazy had difficulty obtaining a clear run. Rounding the home turn Nathan Detroit hung in under pressure.

Race 3 - Own a Piece of the Action Class 3 Handicap - 1400 metres

Brady Cross rider of Century Hawk second placegetter was notified that he must ride all his mounts out hands and heels until the end of the race.

Race 4 - Westside Tabaret F & M Maiden Plate - 1400 metres

Shortly after straightening D Short rider of Kapalua Bay accidentally dropped his whip. Approaching the winning post Gray O'Toole was hampered due to Kapalua Bay shifting out.

Race 5 - Tooheys New Class 5 Handicap - 1100 metres

On the home turn had Considemus to be checked when tightened for room between Zigomar, which shifted in slightly and Corker Blue (M Munday) which shifted out in an endeavour to obtain a run on the outside of Record Score where there was insufficient room. M Munday was severely reprimanded and notified to exercise more care when attempting runs in future.

Race 6 - Morrow Nissan Super Vobis 3YO Class 1 Handicap - 1100 metres

On return to scale Scott Cooper rider of "Algea", 4th placegetter wish to view the Stewards patrol video with a view of lodging an objection against "Reef Wind" 2nd placegetter. After viewing the film, Scott Cooper lodged an objection against "Reef Wind, declared second for alleged interference at the start. After taking evidence from all parties concerned and viewing the Stewards patrol film, the Stewards dismissed the objection and correct weight was declared.

It was established on jumping away "Reef Wind" shifted in and bumped "Algea" in on to "Snipple" resulting in that horse losing considerable ground and "Algea" being hampered.

Approaching the winning post "Tactful Lass" was inconvenienced when brushed by "Algea" which shifted out slightly.

Race 7 - Wimmera $5000 Summer Trainers Bonus Class 2 Handicap - 1200 metres

 On return to scale the judge had placed the numbers (6) "Voodoo Bubbles" 1st placegetter, (2) "Gilgamesh" 2nd placegetter, (9) "Luskelei" 3rd placegetter, (7)"Pine Mist" 4th placegetter, (3) "Interface Starr" 5th placegetter. The Stewards interviewed Mr J White, Judge in respect of the numbers he had semaphored and he admitted that he had made an error with 3rd placing and had semaphored number 9 Luskelei instead of 10 "Red Tamari" 3rd, he then amended his official results to read "Voodoo Bubbles (6), 1st placegetter, (2) "Gilgamesh" 2nd placegetter, (10) "Red Tamari" 3rd placegetter, (7) "Pine Mist" 4th placegetter and (3) "Interface Starr", 5th placegetter. Correct weight was then declared.

Race 8 - Max Wright Cars Class 1 Handicap - 2150 metres

The advertised distance for this race appeared in the race book and Inside Racing as a 2150 metres race when in fact it is a 2100 metres race.

Near the 800 metres "Young Beauty" became unbalanced, shifted out and hampered "Insatiabelle". "Insatiabelle" then shifted out to avoid the heels of "Young Beauty" and inconvenienced "Union Lad".

Near the 500 metres "Benyang" was hampered and tightened for room between "Fumatore" which shifted out slightly and "Minogue" which shifted in.

Approaching the 400 metres "Insatiabelle" was hampered when tightened for room between "Young Beauty" and "Union Lad" which both shifted ground slightly.

FINES AND EXPLAINATIONS

Race 5 - Craig Robertson was fined $100 dollars for accepting a ride on Kapias, which he was unable to fulfill due to being overweight. Stewards took into account Craig Robertson's excellent record in this area.
