Kangaroo Island (SA) - Saturday 26 January 2002
Track: Good
Weather: Fine
Rail: In normal position

RACE 1 – ALCOHOL GO-EASY COLTS, GELDINGS & ENTIRES MAIDEN PLATE:

TASSIE’S SHOUT (J. Marks) had a tendency to hang out in the straight.

RACE 2 – KANGAROO ISLAND SEAVIEW MOTEL / SABIS CLASS D HANDICAP:

JOBBO’S ISLE (H. McKechnie) laid in from the 200 metres.

RACE 3 – ED DUTTON MOTORS / SABIS FILLIES & MARES 3YO & UP MAIDEN PLATE:

An objection was lodged by J. Marks, rider of OUR LITTLE SPOT (3rd Placegetter), against FAST TIME (K. Louca) (2nd Placegetter), on the grounds of interference over the last 200 metres. After taking evidence from all parties, viewing the official video film and acting on their own observations, Stewards dismissed the objection.

Passing the 200 metres OUR LITTLE SPOT (J. Marks) improved into a run between FAST TIME (K. Louca) on its outside, and SIMPLY SUAVE (M. Neilson) on its inside. Shortly after FAST TIME moved in slightly and SIMPLY SUAVE moved out slightly, resulting in OUR LITTLE SPOT becoming unbalanced, which in turn led to pressure on SIMPLE SUAVE for a period.

K. Louca and M. Neilson were advised to keep their mounts straight in future.

THE CON LADY jumped in the air at the start and raced greenly thereafter.

RACE 4 – WEST END DRAUGHT CLASS 6 HANDICAP:

M. Neilson, rider of OUR COLOSSUS, which finished third, lodged an objection against the second placegetter FIGHTING HARADA (A. Stead), on the grounds of interference over the last 100 metres. After taking evidence from all parties, viewing the official video film and acting on their own observations, Stewards dismissed the objection.

After passing the 100 metres A. Stead (FIGHTING HARADA), when attempting to change his grip, dropped his outside rein. As a result, FIGHTING HARADA shifted abruptly towards the rails, inconveniencing OUR COLOSSUS (M. Neilson) just prior to the winning post.

RACE 5 – KANGAROO ISLAND SEALINK CLASS 3 HANDICAP:

No report.

RACE 6 – OZONE SEAFRONT HOTEL HANDICAP:

The starting gates failed to open at the first attempt. On the second attempt JUST FOR DON (J. Marks) was slow to begin.

J. Marks (JUST FOR DON) reported he had been unsure the start had been effected.

After consulting with the Official Starter and all riders, it was determined the start was fair and Correct Weight was duly notified.
