 * No other rider available Race 1 - 2YO HANDICAP (1100 metres): When the gates opened, 'Dansaya' was slow to begin. Near the 800 metres 'Giancarlo' when over racing had to be
        checked off the heels of 'Mister Neat'. After passing the 400 metres, 'Prissy's Dream' when
        weakening had to be checked to avoid the heels of 'Andiamo Mac' which shifted in. Rounding the home turn 'Giancarlo' was held up when unable
        to obtain a clear run. In the straight 'Prissy's Dream' shifted out across the heels of
        'Andiamo Mac' which shifted in. Race 2 - MAIDEN PLATE (1000 metres): At the entrance to the straight 'Princess Lucia' had to be
        eased to avoid the heels of 'Kyuga Jugah' which shifted out slightly. Near the 100 metres, 'Rajah Mahal' had to be checked when
        tightened for room between 'Kyuga Jugah' which shifted in away from 'Atago Ballerina' and
        'Vain Peta' (K. Helms) which shifted out when not clear. K. Helms was severely reprimanded
        and notified she must exercise far greater care when shifting ground in future. Race 3 - MAIDEN PLATE (1200 metres): When the gates opened, 'Nordic Belle' was slow to begin. Near the 800 metres 'Back On The Red' which was over racing
        had to be eased off the heels of 'Thumping' which shifted in. Near the 700 metres, 'Tutu' had to be checked when
        tightened for room between 'Sangus Creek' and 'Ginger Swirl' (J. Keating) which shifted
        out. J. Keating was severely reprimanded and notified he should exercise far greater care
        when shifting ground in future. Race 4 - CLASS 1 (1400 metres): When the gates opened, 'Fantan Queen' bounded in the air
        and lost ground. In the early stages of the race 'Full Glow' got its head up when over
        racing. Race 5 - OPEN HANDICAP (1200 metres): W. Kerford, rider of 'Lugosi' explained to the stewards
        that he eased the gelding down over the concluding stages as he believed something had
        gone amiss with Lugosi. Subsquent to the race clubs veterinary surgeon reported
        that 'Lugosi' was lame in the near hind leg and had sustained an injury to its off
        foreleg. When the gates opened 'Stampco' was slow to begin. Near the 800 metres, 'Brinkley Lass' had to be checked when
        tightened for room by 'Jocosity' (K. Post) which was initially taken in by 'Stampco'
        before shifting in away from that gelding. 'Lugosi' and 'Teekayo' which were following
        then had to be checked to avoid the heels of 'Brinkley Lass'.  As no one rider was fully responsible for the incident
        stewards took no action other than to notify K. Post that he must do his utmost to protect
        his fellow riders at all times when in similar circumstances. Race 6 - CLASS 2 (1200 metres): Approaching the 800 metres 'Bannister Lane' had to be eased
        to avoid the heels of 'Amberlight' (J. Bowditch) which shifted in when not clear. J.
        Bowditch was reprimanded and notified to exercise far more care when shifting ground in
        future. In the straight 'Bannister Lane' had a tendency to hang in. Race 7 - CLASS 4 (1400 metres): Near the 700 meres 'Nevada River' was inconvenienced when
        tightened for room by 'Touching Moment' which was taken in by 'Traditional Girl' which in
        turn was taken in slightly by 'Video Flash'. Subsequent to the race, the club's veterinary surgeon
        reported that 'Supremo Girl' was lame in the near foreleg. Mr. M. McGlynn, trainer of 'Supremo Girl' was notified that
        prior to the mare racing again he must be in receipt of a veterinary certificate of
        fitness. Race 8 - MAIDEN PLATE (1400 metres): Subsequent to the race, the club's veterinary surgeon
        reported that 'Cherubic' was lame in the off foreleg. On jumping away 'Miss McMahon' was
        tightened for room by 'Fen Prince' and 'Cherubic' which shifted in. In the early part of the race, 'Cherubic' raced greenly. M. Munday, rider of 'Yonquista' explained to the stewards
        that he eased the filly down upon straightening as he believed that something had gone
        amiss with 'Yonquista'.  M. Munday further explained that on return to scale
        'Yonquista' felt lame behind. Subsequent to the race the club's veterinary surgeon failed
        to find any abnormalities with Yonquista. Stewards accepted M. Munday's evidence. SWAB SAMPLES  Race 3, winner 'Ginger Swirl'.Race 4, 'Hasta Baby', random swab.

 FINE & EXPLANATIONS: Race 4 - Mr. P. Preusker, trainer of 'Full Glow' was fined
        $100 for failing to produce the document of description for the gelding which was having
        its first start in Victoria. Race 4+8 - Mr. T. Day was fined the sum of $30 for the use
        of the all white colours on 'Quick Class' and 'Cherubic'. Race 3 - Mr. G. Mackenzie was fined the sum of $50 for late
        notification of rider M. Johnstone, as the rider of 'Sangus Creek'. |
